The speed and defense alone makes him a + WAR guy no matter what. Need to be more consistent with the bat.

I wouldn't go that far.ive said once he starts hitting the WAR will start piling up because there is also the speed and defense.

However the rate he going now with high walk rate, steals and defense , he's right at zero WAR.  Those good things are so far preventing him from being a negative WAR player. Technically he's -.1fWAR,  but let's just call that 0.

Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

That's the only thing I found by Feagan. No mention of Trajekt Machine.

Working with the same guy he always has Gregg Tekerman who sells the Tek Bat to the public . Tekerman also said that the Scott Boras group got him to work on being more limber in preparation for a full 162 game season.  Tekerman did say something about how Robert focused more on strength in the past. Of  course that then make you wonder why he wouldn't focus on full body conditioning before.

So ,anyway, read the whole thing. Me paraphrasing isn't as accurate as the quotes from the article.

Nope, in the top six percentile for both bat speed and sprint speed.  As I mentioned in a previous post, his current year results are down because his launch angle has been fucked up.  He’s been barreling balls pretty well and has career best performances so far in chase rate and walk rates (his biggest problems in the past) along with an improved K rate.  I know it’s fun to overact to small sample sizes, but the underlying data suggests his offense will regress to the norm at some point.

And of course the Dodgers know this and will try to get a nice bargain.  They'll  do better than a 0-WAR offer, probably a 1-2 WAR offer: Outman and a decent prospect.  I doubt that prospect is "frontline" at this point.

Getz would be an idiot to take Outman back.

Hold for better/younger.

A low OBP, but high ISO hitter who is 20% to 25% above league average as a hitter and who can play a quality CF.

He has a career wRC+ of 114. So 20-25% above league average as a hitter would be above his career norms. And, personally, I think he’s lower than a 114 wRC+ over the remainder of his career than above it.

Moncada has long Covid and lost a lot of power.  Not even remotely comparable situations.

Moncada had a 3.7 fWAR season in 2021, after he had Covid. For reference, Robert has only had one season above 3.7 fWAR.

I think it was in a Sox Machine article by Fegan.  None of the other beat writers are going to talk about technology like Trajekt machines other than Fegan.

So when do we get Outman back?  /obvious reply

He was at a 125 wRC+ prior to last year.  I don’t put a ton of stock into his performance last year given the extent of his injuries and the fact this team was a fucking disaster lead by an incompetent boob.  Now, if Robert’s performance doesn’t improve in the coming months, I’ll certainly change my tune on that.  For now, I believe he’s the same player he always was because the elite athleticism is still there.

And he played for long stretches while obviously injured.

The rumor was Outman and a front line prospect.  At that point, Outman is just filler.  Who cares if he is part of the return?  It’s about the prospect.  I think some people are expecting far too much for a recently awesome but now mediocre hitting CF if they think we are netting two top prospects for Robert.

They have to get dePaula Z.Hope Kellon Lindsey or Kim.

Anyone athletic for the out field or up the middle...preferably SS

He def needs to hit just a little bit to be +WAR with the defense and speed. Just not “terrible” or “god awful” as he’s been

His 2021 season was driven by a super high walk rate, which really has nothing to do with his power.

That is a really long name.

Yup, he legit looked broken out there after his hip injury.

There's no way in hell White or dePaula are on the table now.  With Outman.

It would be a done deal. In seconds. There's also no Rushing, obviously.

That leaves those two outfielders and Kim that you would want back.  Failing that...the best of these four options.

6. Joendry Vargas, SS · 7. Emil Morales, SS · 8. Alex Freeland, SS · 9. Kellon Lindsey, SS

With Jacob Gonzalez and Colson currently sinking into the abyss...you simply HAVE to get a legit SS.  Have been saying the same thing over and over again all off season.  It's a broken by record now.

It's just pathetic the Dodgers now have five MiLB shortstops lined up better than anyone that the Sox can put out there.

Brooks Baldwin would currently be ranked behind all five...and not that close to Lindsey to be honest.

Why do you seem to think Outman has much value?  He’s spare junk.

He doesn't...not even sure Pages would be enough as the SECOND guy to the headliners already mentioned, but probably.

Robert when he feels 100% likes to run wild on the base paths...imo the hitting will eventually click in with the warmer weather.

If the Dodgers were offering De Paula and Pages for Robert, Robert would be a Dodger right now.  That could potentially finish the future Sox OF with Pages in LF, De Paula in CF, and B. Montgomery in RF.  See if C. Montgomery can turn it around in AAA, and continue to draft up-the-middle players in shortstops and center fielders, as well as starting pitchers.

But I still think you are expecting too much of a return for this version of Robert.

As noted...they seem to prefer Edman playing more at 2B than CF, so LA has had to go with Pages and Kik-e until things turn around.

Taylor is hardly playing at all.

Usually no big trades until at least May...

Why not just call up Kim and see if he can play cf instead of gambling on 15m + 2m buyout for Robert? They're already paying Kim...

Robert just seems like a salary dump at this point. He needs to be on pace for a 2.5 war season just to get serious offers at the deadline so the 20m team options make sense.

Good point.  Totally forgot they signed him.
