Yes, there would be some of that. It would be drowned out by kvetching over Chris Getz failing because Robert was "only" hitting .250, and how Chris Getz would fail if he didn't get 3 top 30 prospects from the receiving team.

Where has ANYONE mentioned three top thirty guys?

Maybe if it was from the Sox system 3-4 years ago when they were ranked 29th.

Oh, *that* got your attention? LOL. It's like all the experts here were talking tough that there was no way they would accept a package for Cease with Connor Norby or Joey Ortiz. They weren't the perfect combination of perfect for Cease, and if they were GM's they would slam down the phone in a special way that would frighten opposing GMs into relenting on their top prospects.

Getz procured 2 of Boston's top 5 prospects, and you have bellyached they didn't get another one, preferably one of the 3 who are top 11 in the game.

And instead we got a package that was soundly decried when the trade happened, and has gotten worse looking with time.  Heck of a victory lap there.  You're doing a great job Getzy.

Outman and Bruns is laughable.

Outman sucks and Bruns, while having a great arm, will never materialize into a starting pitcher. Dodgers tried to hone in his command and while it has improved some, just not enough to project him to anything more than a reliever at this point.

So Dodgers are gonna send out two failed prospects? Robert needs to start hitting to drive up his value, but this is a dumbass trade.

And sadly, sorry ass Joey Ortiz has been more productive than anyone in the Cease trade return.

Yes, it is. You should rewatch Bull Durham. Just one more hit a week is the difference between a .250 hitter to a .300 hitter. One Texas-leaguer. One beat out infield single. One short hop, ball off the pitcher's leg, one ball in the lights. Fifty points.

If Robert was hitting .250 with an OPS around .800 he’d be a perennial all star or at least close to it. Instead, he’s barely able to produce a positive WAR number the last two seasons. Big difference.

Sorry but Ortiz is awful. The first half of last season was a fluke. He’s been abysmal since, including a god awful 0/11 showing in the postseason. He turns 27 in July and is absolutely destined to be Nicky 2.0. I’m not saying that trade looks good for the Sox by any means but I’d still take Thorpe over Ortiz as the headliner in a Cease trade. Crochet returned a far better package because, quite frankly, he has a much higher upside than Cease and is a few years younger.

I agree for the most part.  Ortiz is nothing special but he does have more power than Madrigal.

We just need the Cease return to return, and actually be productive.  Zavala has started out poorly unfortunately.  Hopefully he has a bounce back year.

I don’t expect anything from Zavala. Thorpe as a mid rotation starter and Iriarte as an effective reliever is about all we can hope for unfortunately.

Last two seasons?  He put 4.9 fWAR two seasons ago?  Unless you are calling 60 plate appearances in April a “season”…

And if rumor is true that JR won’t include money, good luck

I’ll never understand this, you’re going to pay him anyways if you don’t trade him

I said before that they should be willing to eat 2/3 (about how much they will pay him if he were traded around Trade Deadline) of his 2025 salary if it gets you what you want.

Zero chance…big market clubs would take him in a heartbeat if he was free

I’m saying there’s a better than 50/50 shot the Sox decline his $20M option for next season at this rate. Just like they declined Moncada’s option for this season…

Wait a minute…. You were on team “hold him until the trade deadline.” Can’t switch now buddy…

If you paid attention, when the rumored Reds deal happened in ST, I was all for it.
