Clevinger: Still in Charlotte

Recommended Posts

If he was a popular player, great teammate, and a story the team could promote in a positive way, giving him a chance to save his career by moving him to the pen and then giving him a chance to return to starting is something I could get behind. It shows loyalty to a player that earned it and I believe would reflect positively on the organization.

Then there is this fucking debacle.

The reaction from the Clevenger haters on this forum makes me laugh.

I hope for his success.

Clevenger is the ultimate "DEI" hire. He sucks, and keeps getting signed because of his connections. He's taking the opportunity away from another player who has truly earned his spot.

So JR is forcing Getz to provide him his now FOURTH separate shot with the Sox against his will?

Why not Trevor Bauer, too?

You wanting Trevor Bauer on this team is the weirdest dunk you've ever attempted.

I don’t.  But where is the White Sox ethical line that they won’t dare cross?

Maybe you could understand a playoff caliber baseball team like SD years ago where they hoped Clevinger would “put them over the top.”

but the WS are not that team and don’t have any reason to be so desperate

Clevinger made his return to the mound for the Knights last night. Reportedly his fastball was up from earlier in the year, averaging 94.4 vs 93.2. Three innings, 3 K, 1 R

Middle 90s still gets you killed in modern baseball if you don't have a reliable array of offspeed pitches to keep batters honest.

Likewise, pitching from behind in counts due to command/control issues.

94.4 is about at the median for major league starters
