Who knows maybe he has a longer leash then the KW.Hahn. As for free agents no one will have that carte blanch.

Like we KNOW we are to evaluation time for them, with their 40 man decisions just weeks away. Get them up here, let them learn on the job. While they are out now, why are we wasting time on the Wilsons and Hudson's of the world? Get Pallette, McDougal, etc into these positions. TF do we need to see Tyler Gilbert again for? Not relevant to call-ups now, but also need 40 man room for Prelander Berroa, Ky Bush and Drew Thorpe. Mason Adams too is hurt but rule 5 eligible. Would think he'd be an easy pick since some team could IL stash him. Edited September 4 by Buehrle>Wood

Adams especially would mean someone would have to give up a 40 man roster spot to pick him and wait until the spring when you can open the 60 day DL and remove him. Berroa and Bush are quick DFAs to get off of the 40 man roster, and won't be missed if they are picked. I know Murphy has had plenty of low level success, but nothing in his profile screams the kind of stuff that gets a guy picked in the Rule 5. Maybe someone goes crazy, but I would call it 90/10 against it happening. Thorpe gets re-rostered for sure. The only pitchers that have been talked about that need to really be protected are Pallette and McDougal.

Berroa definitely should not be exposed through waivers assuming he is still averaging 98 mph and touching 100 after injury. Gave up resources for him too. Certainly nothing definitive to dfa him with his arm and Sox arent in a luxurious position to be giving up on pitchers like that. Adams could be an easy stash for a team with 40 man room. That would be completely dependent on other teams 40 mans. If they looked like Sox in recent years, then yeah. There were at least two players last year selected in the Rule 5 draft as Tommy Johns and stash picks so it is presumably something other teams look for.
