We have no idea who’s going to continue to develop and stay healthy and who might implode.  Us Sox fans should know that better than anyone.  Just keep trying to stockpile players who can provide a positive WAR.

  • Must be nice to have no idea what you’re doing and just blame it on a “rebuild”.   This rebuild is in a worst place than when Getz took over.

  • Yes, but the unsuccessful dinglehopper was hired specifically cause there was no time to lose with a classic rebuild, then he immediately was telling people that they could compete in a woeful divisio

  • Sorry, I'm gonna keep going because the team on the field is such a walking embarrassment that Getz deserves to be roasted over a volcanic flame. Acting like he's the first GM to have their hands

Brooks Baldwin has -.3 bWAR and is OPSing .650, so yeah he is hitting "better" than Robert but this is a real lousy point your making here.

Robert has gone Oil Can Boyd on us.

What about short relief- harness what he has for a inning or 2 a few times a week.  A lot of good reliever came via the starter path.

Cannon and Martin for that matter don't really have the type of swing and miss repertoire that would work well in relief.  Nor would mid 90s fastballs in relief differentiate them effectively.

That’s pretty mean…yet very funny.

Maybe our manager is better or the fact we've already tried a lot of different players this year but Sox seem better than last year. Quero and maybe Palacios look intriguing of late.  And like somebody said our division appears worse.

Luis Robert has a drug habit?

What do we think of the bears draft pick? Did we really need another tight end? Apparently this guy is great.

is there a thread for this? Game thread seems appropriate since the draft is right now and this thread will be locked shortly.

there's a football thread in the non-baseball section

Oh, a 100 page thread I never looked at. Thanks!

Ok, I said he is hitting better than Robert and you just agreed with me so maybe you should tell me why my point is lousy ?

Robert developed enough to have a superstar type year in 2023. I'm just asking questions about why he can't find that level any more .

Give me some answers. Give me inside info from a source. We all can make wild guesses based on little more than the current ugly state of the franchise because well, Idk, umm, cuz Getz sucks ?

Is your point that Robert is  better because he has higher than a  -.3 fWAR ? Actually I just looked up Baldwins fWAR and it's -.1.So far ,they're about equal in value to the team this year.

Robert plays a great CF and is very fast , steals bases , has a nice walk rate so far yet his fWAR is a -.2.

I have no doubt that when Robert remembers how to do the things he did in 2023 he'll be a better player than Baldwin. But right now no team will give up much value for him so he's not just worth roughly the same amount as Baldwin but he's also costing the Sox future value because he's got his head up his ass  and it's all because of what exactly ? He wasn't developed properly after his Grade 2 right hip flexor strain that caused him to miss 62 games ? I'm just confused on why he's been so bad for his last  nearly 500 AB since he came back from that injury ?

So far this year he's making last year's performance look great in comparison.

What have the Sox invested in him from the start ? $100M ?

I just want a couple of decent prospects back for him. Theres still time for him to rediscover himself  but he'll have to turn on the after burners for May , June and part of July to convince any team he's got his head on straight.

I totally get what you’re saying, but I feel like we kept expecting Yoan, Timmy and Eloy to turn it around because they had been good in the past.  It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in baseball where seemingly 4 above average players in their peak just all lost their ability.

No. He seems to have become a head case maybe because of trade talk and a lot of his former teammates are gone. His future is unclear.

I recall nothing like it in my baseball lifetime.   And I will swear to my grave it all happened because of TLR.  It just lines up so perfectly.

I absolutely agree with you. I said it when they hired him that I was happy when they fired him the first time and will be happy when he is gone from the dugout again.....but I did not think the team would fall off a cliff like they did. That .500 season under LaRussa feels like a fever dream.

I remember outlining what I felt were worst case scenarios where he lost the team, but I didn't imagine in my wildest nightmares that he had Monstar like powers to steal their abilities.  Again, never seen anything like it.
