Actually, 4 Tommy John surgeries and Perez' injury resulted in the guy they promised a shot at starting - starting games. So that's 5 injuries, and 2 guys in AAA not being able to throw strikes, if we're going to get technical. And even with that, they still have 3 guys on the 26-man with starting experience behind Bryce Wilson, 2 other guys at AAA who might get starts in the bigs, and Jesse Scholtens may even be back by the middle of June.

So, yeah, they had and have depth.

If they promised Bryse Wilson he could start, they’re even dumber than they get credit for.   Outside of one fluke season, he’s been awful.  And I don’t give them credit for “pitching depth” for guys who stalled out in AAA.  If that’s true, every single major league team has no depth issues.

Rojas was a completely worthless signing.

For a team in the first phase of their rebuild, they have no depth issue, regardless of whether you "give them credit" or not. Their depth exists.

Bryce Wilson had 3 productive seasons, 2 of them directly preceding 2025. He's a fine swing-man.

Looks like Wilson is pitching batting practice.

Venables lineup has me believing he is satisfied with taking 2 out of 3 and not interested in going for the sweep.  That is not what good managers do.

Its very commonplace for managers managers to have a "Sunday" lineup on get away days. Especially a team that recently had a 20 some game streak without a day off.

Ozzie was famous for it every time. Not all do it everytime but its common.

Only +250 odds for -5.5?

Vargas playing a confident 3B.

So much for all the positive vibes lol.

Just keep it to two runs.

Elko was like the 4 leaf clover and Venable said no thank you. 😉

Sorry, fat fingers. It was 350.

They signed Martín Pérez to a big league deal, he wasn't awful. The Sox had starting pitching depth. Not everybody is the Dodgers with 11 FA starting pitchers on the IL.

20 innings in 7 weeks?  Color me unimpressed with the signing.

Ozzie's Sunday/get away day lineups let the vets get a rest (and he did it way too much).  I don't think Chase and Quero need a breather today.

Baldwin playing his way back to AAA in the coming days.

Amaya OPS at .236 after 60 at bats.  That is about as low as I’ve ever seen

Apparently, Venable thought differently.

They had a long stretch of games without a break until Monday. Catchers rarely catch day games after night games anytime throughout the season.

What an ass whooping today.

I forgot the road emoticons .Let's see if we can avoid the shutout.

The problem is with all the injuries the Sox have had over the recent years.  The Sox never have enough starting pitching due to their annual glut of injuries.

It's really spread. The Sox are going to catch the Mariners whi most thought had the best rotation in baseball with 3 out of 5 starters on the IL.

I have always supported stretching out Vasil to be 5th starter. B Wilson’s stuff simply is not good enough. Otherwise, you’re looking at Clevinger or bringing up Schultz earlier than planned.  Sox have a lot of reliever candidates to backfill Vasil.

2 chances that inning to PH Elko against a LH to look for 3 run HR. Venable surrendered .

Great so he puts Elko in at 1st now.
