He got traded for the complete opposite. They traded for Samardzija trying to win.

Awful trade. Give me 10 years of Semien for a lotta W's.

Let's stop with the woe is me and acknowledge that the loss was expected against DeGrom.  Sox made a game of it but, as usual,  just didn't have enough gas left in the tank to close it out. The players like us are understandably tired of losing. IMO, Sox need to trade Luis Robert as soon as possible to rid the clubhouse of his presence. Put Michael Taylor out there until they figure out what to do next.

If they trade Robert, they may as well call up Fletcher and let him play CF.  There’s no reason to be starting 34-year old Taylor on a 1-year deal.

No. Fletcher is awful.  Come up with another solution.

Grant Taylor screwed it up. First guy up gets a clean single, and then he fell apart, walking the second guy. Now he's 15 pitches in with still no outs.

Agreed, but Taylor is awful as well and gone after this season.  They may as well play someone younger than Taylor that the Sox still may have control of past this season.  Hell, even Zach DeChoach.

Why waste at bats on a bad 34 year old vet?  You don’t understand that?

No reason to waste any money or time on a useless player like Fletcher when the Sox already have Taylor signed for this season. Just run with him now and figure something else out for next season.

Back to the main point of my post though, getting rid of Robert Jr. may at least help to improve team morale. Everyone, fans and players alike, are sick of watching Robert pursue his own future financial interests with some vague hope that a trade will bring something that is worth enduring this nonsense.

I don’t agree with this.  I have no faith in Fletcher but perhaps he breaks out?  Didn’t Vargas do the same?  Taylor is a sunk cost.  He was $2 million bucks and he likely isn’t netting a prospect at the deadline.  He can earn the rest of his money in the role he was intended to play when he was signed — a backup/fourth outfielder that can play all three OF spots.

Regarding Robert, as much as I joke in the game threads about trading him immediately after every hit, it probably makes sense to wait until the deadline to try to trade him.  While not likely, perhaps he gets hot in the next 7 weeks and ups his trade value.

Plenty of room for Fletcher when Tauchman and Robert are dealt and Taylor and Slater are cut.

Agreed.  Throw DeChoach out there as well for all I care.  Figure out in the second half of the seasons if any of these bums can get hot and pan out like Vargas has done so far.  We don’t need to be wasting more at bats on bums like Slater and Taylor.
