Is it going to acquire two "superstars"? Not on your life. But his money will be used to do other things. You are looking at probably a 95+ loss season in 2026 and a labor impasse wiping out at least a portion, possible a very good portion of the 2027 season. We'll see how things look in 2028. You have mentioned in the past that JR is big on spending O.P.M (Other peoples money) I'm hoping JR is going to spend some of Ishbias money.

I've written JR a couple of times asking to be interviewed for the GM job. He has never responded to me on the subject. This team would have never been this bad the last few seasons if I was the GM. Of course JR would have fired me simply because I would have never gone along with his program of losing games with a low payroll. Bill Veeck in one of his books said, the future is now. 5 year plans usually lead to more 5 year plans. I believe that losing year after year is crazy. Edited June 16, 2025Jun 16 by WBWSF

He hasn't put money into the team yet. He bought up existing minority shares, and has no control. He is going to be investing into the team, which is almost certainly going to turn into stadium dollars, even though it hasn't been publicly been said. I am a believer in the theory that no one is spending for the Sox until after the CBA is settled.

You do realize that he's in estate planning phase of his life now right ? That means making sure his kids sell the Sox and keep the Bulls and continue investing in the 1901 Project with the Blackhawks. Why do you talk about him as if this was 25-30 years ago ? There is nothing in Reinsdorf's future plans that include him or his kids investing more than the bare minimum in the Sox. Edited June 17, 2025Jun 17 by CaliSoxFanViaSWside

I'm pretty sure the valuation for selling the additional shares is already locked in at $1.8 billion or whatever (maybe those controlling shares are even higher)...while the Sox will most likely will continue to fall in value between now and 2029, JR's guaranteed family wealth for multiple generations of Reinsdorfs is already baked into the pie now.
June 17, 2025Jun 17 Author From what I've been reading on reddit, the Red Sox fans are not happy about the Devers trade. This appears to be their white flag trade.

Devers had been nothing but a good player and teammate his entire tenure in Boston. 18 months ago he signed a 10 year extension, since then he's just been as good as he was before signing. When he signed they assured him he'd stay at third base for a few more years. Then this off-season, they reiterate to him that he's their 3rd baseman - even though they were on the side trying to sign Bregman. Then he found out about the Bregman signing and positional move from the media, while being ask to answer questions about it! He's their franchise player lol. The Red Sox lied, gas lit and pointlessly disrespected their best player. All they had to do was be honest with him and it could have turned out very differently. Then Casas was injured, and Devers should have been more amenable to helping out, instead of pouting.

The Red Sox are very similar to the White is that the love trashing their former players on the way out the door. True or not, who knows. With Devers, they jacked this dude around a ton over position and playing time, so even if he was a shitty teammate, the franchise was a more shitty employer and kind of earned it.

Capitalism = Lying, and it's rewarded on a daily basis. Don't act naive. Team leaders lead. As I said, the team should have communicated better with him. However, he could have acted like an adult man and dealt with the situation without pouting. Public pouting shouldn't be rewarded, either.
