Adding Devers to the team for basically nothing would be a no brainer for me. Not only would he help the team offensively he would plug the hole the team has at 3rd base. Dude, this is fucking pipe dream bullshit. The white Sox were not acquiring a 300 million dollar contract and a disgruntled player. The White Sox also do not have the players that are needed to complete this deal(that they are WILLING TO TRADE). You know who else would make this team better at hitting? Ohtani. Why didn’t they just acquire them when he was a free agent? I think I will comment about this in every subsequent thread about the White Sox lack of offense without thinking about any outside context that might make it impossible. Hmm 1 1

Hmm I've been under the impression that the new owner (Ishbia) was suppose to spend some money on the team. Whether its a new stadium, better players or whatever else. Looks like its not going to be on better players.

Princess Dye
Ishbia will probably be like other owners in that, when he does take over or start giving money... he wont pay FAs during losing years. he will try to time it with prospects being at their near prime. cant expect this to be Superman. at first any new owner will seem that way but reality sets in after awhile. Just dont be bottom tier ownership, plz i mainly just ask that you not be in a war vs player agents. we pay to see the players play, not to see your franchise's newest off-field ideas, fashion, concessions Edited June 16 by Princess Dye

Bob Sacamano
Great deal for the Giants. No way Sox were going to do this when they’re slashing payroll.

That doesn’t mean he will be a great owner once he does take control. There are plenty of bad owners.

First thing he did was sign 2 good free agents Fisk and Luzinski. It was a tremendous PR move. If it wasn't for the 1981 players strike the team was going to draw over 2 million for the first time. They were having walkup crowds of over 20,000 fans at some games. Edited June 16 by WBWSF

What happened 50 years ago does not matter now. The game has changed and none of Jerry’s old tricks to get suckers in the door to watch shitty teams are gonna fill that place up 2

The teams bad at scouting and development follow this formula. You can even convince those fans that it works. I never understood the draft pick envy either. Baseball has a far more larger margin of error than the NFL or NBA. Winning and losing seems to be a habit. The Dodgers seem to have more than their share of injuries yet they win. There are no surrender trades.
