With a runner on first, if the first out is made at first base, you can go back to the base.

No, because it was a ground ball.  Robert doesn't have to advance, but two men can't be on base at once.  i think Montgomery is out because the base isn't free, and  Robert stays on first.  Only one out is recorded.

Yep which is why Robert has to try and get back as fast as possible.  It was a unique play for sure.  At least Luis didn’t get hurt.
