That’s about all he could get for Hauser.

It would be interesting to know the truth behind both the Vargas and Mead trades to see if Getz had an option of younger prospects that may not have been highly ranked yet over players like Vargas and Mead that were already aging out of prospect status.

Another wasted pretty good pitching effort because of a dead and putrid offense.

Must be frustrating for some of the pitchers.

19 times now the Sox have lost a game where they held an opponent to three runs or less.

But last night Schiffren seemed to indicate they would be scoring tons of runs again with Vargas and Chase coming back?

Vargas looks the part at least.  I don’t even mind Mead getting at bats, I’m just so tired of Getz going after guys with mediocre power.

Who best profile at corners but without the requisite power...

The good power hitters cost money...JR won't allow that.

But equally after a pretty good offensive effort in games this season the bullpen has also lost games. Since the all star break the offense has been generally ok, and probably better than the pitching.

Wade Boggs.

How long did they keep him in the minors, because he had no power? Then what happened?

I still think "pushing" Montgomery to the majors after his small detour to Arizona  has been wonderful. I do think taking a few chances on players who hopefully have a future in Chicago is better off than just recycling players 30+  who are just filling  a spot.

#1 it was a different era.

#2, pretty sure neither of these guys is going to hit .328/.415/.443/.858 for a CAREER,
