They are a blast to watch, and I hope to one of these days get to see them in person. This is insane. Any one of us coulda thought of this idea. Kudos to whoever invented this concept. Can you imagine how rich he/she is? And how bout the players? I would think there are making so much $$. To pack the Cell for those prices is unbelievable. Can you imagine the money made on concessions today? I wonder if they charged for parking.

These are the two owners… Meanwhile, the players are usually failed MiLB prospects so they earn even less than MiLB minor leaguers, which is a pathetic salary to begin with (outside of high draft pick signing bonuses). The owner is literally wearing a yellow banana suit and cutting his own promos during each game. The players aren’t making s%*#. Banana man ain’t making money by overpaying failed minor league baseball players that can dance. They are a dime a dozen. Just look at White Sox bust prospects. Jacob Gonzalez will probably be a Banana soon. 🤣 The money is going one way — to the owners, just like with the Sox and Jerry. I watched the Bananas game tonight and there were numerous promotional ads from several Chicagoland companies that they are also making money for. I have zero doubt that that money isn’t going to the Bananas owners, along with Jerry. Chance the Rapper performed and both Buehrle and AJP made appearances. I have no doubt Jerry got all the concessions and parking revenue, along with more money for setting up the appearances. caulfield12
"In 2023, Jesse Cole's worth was estimated at $4 million, resulting from his team's success..." Probably $5-10 million now with this pace of expansion into four teams to allow even more dates across the season. Better investment though would have been putting the same amount of into a WNBA franchise 2-3 seasons ago. Would have experienced a 5-10x increase in value. greg775
I will say I'm amazed in a good way at the Bananas success. This has been going on for several years now and they sell out all the games they play. My gosh 100,000 fans on two nights in Colorado; Rate Field is sold out for two nights. I watched the game on stream and it was as everyone says, very fun. AJ and Mark Buehrle were into it and it just was awesome. I think they charge 40, 50 and 60 for tickets maybe. Not exactly 10 dollars but the fans that attended prolly say it was worth it. There's some kind of lesson to be learned here. Banana fever. https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/bananas-on-the-rocks-five-things-the-savannah-bananas-get-right/

Banana fever. https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/bananas-on-the-rocks-five-things-the-savannah-bananas-get-right/ Almost unlimited concessions (except for premium/exclusive items like Campfire Shakes) are built into ticket prices. Yes, free. Augusta National justifiably gets praise for its $1.50 pimento cheese sandwiches, and the Atlanta Falcons have a fan-friendly menu that lets you fill up on gameday essentials for about $10 a head. But the Bananas have them both beat; every ticket entitles you to as many Cokes, hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches and cookies as you can cram down. (Ice cream, alcoholic beverages and other items actually do require payment, but a reasonable one.) ADVERTISEMENT “We would rather people feel like they’re getting just outrageous value, and tell others about that, than try to nickel-and-dime them in the short term, and they feel like, 'Ugh, I just don’t know if I could do that ever again,'” team president Jared Orton says. That little tweak — fold the food into the price of a $35 ticket — is part of what’s making the Bananas so popular." But it seems very few are actually able secure tickets now for just $35-40 because so many are going onto the resale market for $150-500 and up. Maybe those prices are higher outside of Savannah GA as well? Because that's a very middle class city except for "old money." https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/08/15/photos-savannah-bananas-chicago-rate-field/ Edited August 16 by caulfield12

soxrwhite
I switched between the Sox game (ugh) and the Bananas game. It was my first exposure to the Bananas. It was alot of fun at the ballpark. Seeing the Rate filled, and seeing AJ and Buehrle were extra nice. Certainly not a nightly experience as the novelty would soon wear off. Its a day at the circus but it is baseball. Kids love it. My grandson never watches baseball but watched this. I see only positives for all here.

greg775
Say what you want. Nobody would have thought a fake team could fill 50,000 seat stadiums. The free food idea is genius. Anybody know if they charge for parking? Most sporting events these days charge so much for parking you'd think you were in Vegas getting ripped off by the casino owners. Just to be clear....the free food is only at Savannah home games. Your ticket price just gets you in the stadium on any road games, including Chicago.
