2026 International signings thread

White Sox linked to two players here

Quote

25. Fernando Graterol, C, Venezuela
Born:
Oct. 9, 2008. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 175.
Team: White Sox

Graterol has a strong, broad-shouldered frame with more physical projection remaining. He already has some of the better raw power of any catcher in the 2026 international class and could grow into more once he’s physically mature. It could end up a power-over-hit profile with the potential to develop into a 20-plus home run hitter. Graterol has a strong arm, but he will need to make strides with his blocking and receiving to prove that he can stick behind the plate.

30. Sebastian Romero, OF, Venezuela
Born: Sept. 4, 2008. B-T: L-L. Ht.: 6-2. Wt.: 175.
Team: White Sox

Romero has a lean, lively 6-foot-2 frame with advanced feel for hitting from the left side of the plate. It’s a sound, fluid swing with the ability to manipulate the barrel to square up pitches with good contact skills against live pitching. Romero has mostly doubles power now but with a lot of space left to fill out and potentially develop into a 20-plus home run hitter. He’s a good athlete and an above-average runner who moves around well in center field.

NOTE: This is their Bonus Board rankings, not necessarily where they're ranked in the class

I’ll have preview out this weekend for FutureSox. They have some monster classes coming if the rules stay the same.

Any idea on our pool and the sizes of their signing bonuses?  Would these be Keller guys rather than Paddy?  Hasn't it been awhile since our priciest signings were not from Cuba?   Philosophy shift if so or just random/how it worked out with new regime and deals being lined up for years?

Pool should be around $6 million. These are very likely still Marco Paddy signings.

That young Venezuelan 3B was the biggest signing two classes ago...Paddy.

Is Graterol related to the relief pitcher?

Pipeline just released their top 50, Graterol checks in at 31, Romero isn't on the list. I get why they don't do it, but it irks me when they don't mention who the players are signing with.

Padres have supposedly signed #13 Joniel Hernandez for $1.5 million...fyi.

Only 140 pounds and 6'0" plus.

I can't wait until the international side starts bearing fruit.

That seems like a damn good carrying tool for a prospect that doesn't rank inside of Pipeline's Top 50 Int'l prospects. 🤔🤔

Braston Baxter. I'm looking forward to watching his progress. Great report.

In your article, you name Outfielder Sebastian Romero but then refer to somebody called Rivero. Are there two different players, or is it Sebastian Rivero, and you mistakenly subbed in Francys Romero's name?

Great article, thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the read and am looking forward to following the development of these players. The new White Sox front office also has me very excited for the future of the organization. Sounds like they are finally getting competent.

Yes. Just a typo.

I wonder how Trump’s distraction war will impact the Venezuelan market. Obviously my thoughts are with the people of Venezuela, and baseball isn’t important right now, but I do hope that the players were able to make it out in time.

Any political overtones there, Boopa? It's still 6 weeks or so until ST. I'm sure they'll get out.

I said nothing political.

Anyway, I hope all the players get out safely and their families are safe in this time of turmoil

Wow, the Sox have no one else in the top 100 outside of the two guys were already knew of.  Can’t wait to these Keller classes start hitting because we are at such a disadvantage without a competent International program.

Those are just the top 100 bonuses. RHP Roderic Ramirez is really interested. Signing for $410K though. I have signing bonuses in my preview.
