For the first time in a long time I see some hope for this franchise. I really like Venable. I think he has the perfect positive demeanor for a  young and building team. Players like him and play hard for him. I think if JR would open the check book free agents would really want to come play in Chicago for a contending team. It is a great city. MLB players ranked Chicago has their second most favorite road city behind only San Diego.

I hope Getz and Jerry let him bring in his own guys in the off season, heard rumors about bringing in one of the main hitting gurus from the rangers

Venable is the first Sox manager I've liked since early Guillen. Is he a tactical ace? Not really, but he can lead a clubhouse and that is the most important thing. Team could have folded but finishing strong is important with so many young guys getting regular playing time.

I think he will get better at the tactical part of the game as he  gains more experience. It's only his first year as the head guy. I hope so anyway.

I guess he'll be available once Ishbia takes over and fires everybody in the organization. LOL.

Simpson is a pain in the arse .

Him and Caminero are a fun pair

Not sure they get out of this without a run. Caminero not likely to hit into another DP.  Thatll do . Weak contact .

Why is Tyler Alexander in any game ever?

That was some near mix-up by Alexander and Mead. Detroit, Philadelphia and the Rays apparently don't teach fundamentals. I suppose those organizations should be cleaning out their development for guys who will have every prospect playing with the wisdom of a 39-year-old vet when they hit the bigs.

this forum told me Getz was inept, why do these guys well-regarded around the league (Venable and Bannister as well) wanna work here so bad??? stockholm syndrome?

WTF is going on? Nice effort there from the pen.

Ha Alexander the Great !

I wouldn't want to jump ship to that disaster over in Baltimore right now. I doubt they bottom out as hard as the Sox did, but that team is in trouble.

Don't bring him back next year so Venable can't use him.

Agreed. Their new owner is as bad as the last one. the proof was partially in the pudding with his role as president of UChicago's board of trustees.

Still, it's a good job. somebody took the Sox job, right? Amazing that Venable is coaching this team when it could've been the Mets.

I gotta say I do like that Sox staff is getting promotional looks, but I also can't help but remember the great Satan himself Rick Hahn also turning down GM interviews before he was handed the Sox job.  I will also say that I know what we all think of Jerry, but the Orioles might be one of a couple of franchises run more poorly than the Sox right now.  They had an obviously small window and just absolutely pissed it away.

I think Quero is the first latin dude I've seen with a flat top ever.

These last few innings have the energy of the 8th and 9th in mid-spring training.

I set you up but you hit a HR, nicely done.

Leasure's been really good since the start of August.

What is that, 4 series wins in a row?

6-9 gets it done to avoid 100 losses. Nice.
