I thought I was being too exuberant in the bold predictions thread when I said 60 wins, so they exceeded my expectations. B.

There seems to be a seriousness under Getz, and he lacks the Hahn-descension of the previous two GMs. I like how they handled Vargas and Colson, turning their seasons around. Crochet trade? Some here still complain we didn't get Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, and we'd be horrified with their output on this year's White Sox.

I wanted one of those two guys over Teel. Plus I liked Miguel Bleis. Boy, that would've been dumb. Definitely wanted Braden. Jury is out if Meidroth is a better piece than Bleis I guess.

Strong C to a light B.

I understand the 102 loss argument, but I don’t feel things are that black and white. There’s a whole lot of nuance and circumstance behind that number.

He came on the scene with a roster in complete disarray coupled with a severely toxic locker room. He made a slam dunk managerial hire and has brought in character-first players to completely rebuild the culture of this franchise. Doesn’t matter how great your roster is if the culture is irreparably toxic. To me, he has aced the biggest test of his tenure.

Once you have a strong culture (and a dead Reinsdorf, if we’re being honest), it becomes much easier to attract talent and bring guys up from the minors to a good, supportive situation.

Isn't this the 2nd year for the Marlins GM?  They came close to .500 and the Marlins are Reinsdorf South.  I thought they would lose close to a 100.  Compare that to Getz if you want.

It's obvious Getz doesn't have a magic wand.  I guess though he is trying to get the Sox organization out of the stone age.

How do you grade a person who only got the promotion for just being there?

Alcantara and Eury Perez have the stuff/past history to be aces or at least frontline starters.

Stowers had a wonderful season...quite unexpected.

X.Edwards and Marsee both spare parts in Padres' systems with better fWAR than anyone but Colson on the Sox.

INF Otto Lopez was quite solid, too.

Junk the Marlins' equivalent of S.Smith.

All of baseball was wrong on Campbell and Mayer then.

Taking 10-15 MiLB talents on a consistent basis in trade usually works.

Jury still out on Teel as an everyday catcher...lots of passed balls and he and Quero had more favor able pitching matchups splitting the role.

Meidroth might turn out to be more of a replacement level player when all is said and done.

I guess that's why real GMs base their decisions on actual scouting and not listicle rankings. I suppose if Mayer or Campbell got into our system, Getz could have fixed them, too.

The White Sox spent the last decade under Getz and Hahn doing EXACTLY that.

Heck, Mead and Vargas were exactly that...past top prospects with other organizations.

The Crochet trade was always about Braden and Teel.

How many actual scouts do the White Sox even have left?

And the biggest piece all along was Roman Anthony.

Hard to fault the Red Sox for holding onto HIM...they made the playoffs, so something obviously went right for them.

Getz hasn't been in the Sox org for a decade. I always find it weird when you guys insist that Getz was running the White Sox front office, even while playing 2B for the Blue Jays, or while he was assistant to player development for the Royals.

Seems like nine years to me...but that best farm system was Hahn and Haber/Hostetler, so interesting how he's got someone framing his Wikipedia page to make his minor league development roles look like a complete unparalelled success lol.

"2016 when he went to the Chicago White Sox as their director of player development from 2017 to 2020. There, he worked with many talented prospects like Luis Robert Jr., Yoán Moncada, Eloy Jiménez, Michael Kopech, Lucas Giolito, and Dylan Cease. The White Sox farm system was ranked as the best in the MLB in 2017."

That ranking did come out in late July when Getz was, indeed, the director of development. Is there a lie in there I'm supposed to find?

Any B's besides the obvious two?

come on bro are you just baiting? Ron must be giving you lessons.

there are more "B's" than "F's" at this point. I haven't voted yet but I'm about to send another B as a FU.

Why would Getz possibly deserve a B?

Why is our new "standard of excellence" a C/D grade, lol?

Comparing B's to F's is absolutely ludicrous.

1. Issue your grade and don’t worry about  what others grade him.  It’s not difficult, lay out your reasoning and that’s that

2. this is not our “standard of excellence”.  This is our grades after this season.

3.  It’s not a comparison.  He was just pointing out that there are more Bs than Fs.

It's going to be a LONG two more seasons...

Caulfield already posted Getz’s history with the Sox.  Not quite a decade, but almost.

It's ludicrous that you haven't even voted, yet, and are criticizing everybody else's choices.

Voting is scary.

Are you incapable of reading?

C-/D+ was not an option.

He's not a C but might be a bit higher than a full D.

"C- feels about right.

Biggest pluses were Colson, Teel and the Rule 5 guys.

Quero, Baldwin, Vargas and Sosa had their moments…along with Meidroth, but none of those guys feel like the heart of a pennant contender at present time due to various flaws.

Schultz, Hagen Smith and Braden the three obvious keys to the future, and the 2026 draft pick.

Speed defense execution/fundamentals, the bullpen and rotation, all need dramatic improvements, especially with Robert (at some point, hopefully) and Taylor both gone."

Never said Getz deserves anything or compared the grades other than pointing out the vote totals.

Your comment was verbatim:  "Any B's besides the obvious two?" which came off as some sleight to 2 posters you think may have voted B. There are currently 10 B votes so you may need to update your list.

Ptac was predictable...Eddy same.

Was expecting Cali as well.

41/60 or almost 70% and a clear majority have given a C or D.

One of the B votes is a Getz family member...j/k.

Have never seen a "Constructive Summer" post b4.

The amount of B's is incredible.

The past year, Getz cut payroll 50+ million to the lowest it's been in over two decades! He also had a farm system (pre-Crochet trade) that was ranked in the top 11 everywhere. One year later, that farm system is in the back half of all rankings in the league - meaning it got worse. The reason the Sox were competitive was because of a pick Getz didn't make (Colson) and since we're not giving him any blame for his tenure prior to his current role, he certainly deserves no credit.

So the Sox had the 2nd worst record in baseball, they were the cheapest they've been in 20+ years, and their farm system got worse YoY despite still being the worst team in the AL. Somehow, in the mind of some fans, he's done B work. I hope you all aren't educating our youth with those standards.
