Well after my rant in the other thread, maybe the Sox see the need to have coaches instead of over the hill players acting as coaches.

  • Maybe  Clevinger is going to pivot into coaching.

Amazing to see so many coaches released after the "B" performance that was filled with positive things.

Ok, that is hilarious that I have got you actually reading the comments of Royals articles to try to get a reply up to a castaway comment.

Actually, Dick Allen's comment got me thinking. Your's was just easier to find and respond to.

Sizemore is going to the Twins.

I'm not surprised that Katz hasn't found a position in two months. He was a friends and family hire by Tony and he coached the worst team in history. The Sox stink will cling to him for a while.

I see him at a good college, perhaps as the manager.

Basically a demotion.  Wouldn’t be much a surprise as most Sox GM’s and coaches don’t have much success after leaving the Sox.

Unless he joins Flaherty or Giolito.

NYY/Max Fried won't be having him.

SS2k5 makes a great point that there are only 30 jobs available and you probably have to take one anywhere when you get a chance, but I think anyone in that position is going to think long and hard before moving to the Sox.

Of all the friends and family Tony brought in I thought Katz (the weakest family link) and Duncan (biggest family hire) were the best moves.

Remember defense is associated with baseball fundamentals.

That is an unknown word to this organization and it shows almost daily in games.

Not good enough for what? Liptak said that if "everything went right", they'd be a worse team in 2026 than they were in the 2nd half of 2025. If they just tread water, get the same production from the likes of Benintendi, Robert, Tauchman and their pitching staff, that's a 70-win team. Nobody thinks they're going to sign Kyle Tucker or Schwarber, but they could do better around the edges in the bullpen and rotation.

And they probably aren't in the position where adding big money free agents even puts them over the top at this point. Add Tucker, Cease and a closer, and they're maybe pushing for .500? They're most likely one season away from that type of push gets them far enough along the win curve to assure the playoffs.

E.Pereira and D.Hill will both win Gold Gloves and outhit their career OPS numbers by 150 points...why not live in dream land?

Who needs to spend $3-5 million on Tauchman when they  can save more money and get younger?

Murray's career 763 ops in the minors will make everyone forget Shewmake.

Oops...they already did.

Not sure what your point is. Tauchman was a theoretical part of the 2026 team, now he's not. Maybe they try to resign him for $1M, then he will be, again. He OPSed .627 the last 2 months of the season, so it's not like he put that team on his back to play at a 70-win pace from the ASB on. Maybe they just needed to slow down their access to his hitting data, then not let scouts and coaches talk to each other. That's the key to a winning team!! LOL.

From pitching coach to assistant.  A demotion in title but a big win in going to a much better team.

From one org on the decline to another.

Imminent reunion with Cease? Giolito?
