If Ishbia gave us one early present, who would excite you to add to this not ready team

I think Jerry is more of the guy who could hire an utterly unqualified guy for the GM job.  Hopefully Ishbia lays that tradition to rest.

Some people thought that Hahn And Getz had the qualifications to be the GM. How has that turned out? I never viewed MLB as rocket science. I think some fan like myself would do a decent job as the GM. If I was the GM and turned out as bad as Hahn and Getz have been I would resign.

Dude you were head over heels for Elko this year, you kept repeating that he should ask out of his contract so he can join a contender.  Be for real

As bad as any of these guys have been, any of us would be eleventy seven billion times worse.

The Astros and Cardinals pretty much decided it WAS rocket science about 15 or so years ago...under Luhnow and Megdal.

I wasn't head over heels in regards to Elko. I  thought the team didn't give him much of a chance. I remember in one game he hit a home run and later in the game he was pinched hit for. Obviously he doesn't figure in the future plans of the team. i would like to see him traded to another team where he will be given a decent chance to succeed which wasn't  the case here in Chicago.

Thinking Elko has any trade value is "head over heels". Hitting a HR off a mistake pitch doesn't make somebody MLB-ready. Elko looked seriously overmatched in his at-bats. After being sent back down to Charlotte and called up again, he still had no clue in his 3 pitch strike outs. He did get a decent chance here. He failed miserably. "A chance" doesn't mean 3 solid months of hitting .041 as a starter. Tim Elko is not a major league player, and he has no trade value.

Well, the parameters were $160, and one player. I don't think there's one player who puts this team over the top, and I was thinking he's young enough to grow with this group. Maybe Murakami. Just listened to the FutureSox podcast. Neither of these two are gonna break the bank, most likely.

Yeah I probably should have raised it, kinda eye balled it going off of ages available but mainly just didn’t want to throw in Tucker.

I love how facing an offseason where Josh Naylor is a north star that will be talked about ad nauseum, fans are given a choice to live in an alternate reality where we went after impactful players, and are instead like "No thanks, I'll stick with Naylor chief"

Or $160M worth of computers. At least Naylor is 1 player. Very few stuck to your ask, 1 player that's your pick for $160M. So many afraid of being wrong they pick invisible things .

Also worth pointing out that the free agency pool just isn’t that deep. I’ll spend the $160M on Bieber. What kind of deal is he getting.

Just kind of confused what “spend big on one player for $160M” means. $150M, 6 year deal for Alonso? What else really?

In reality Bichette Bregman Valdez Bellinger Cease Suarez King Schwarber Alonso Woodruff are about the only singular players one could consider that might end up in that price range.

Might.

Still waiting on his last playoff starts...most teams will want to go shorter years with higher annual salaries and/or look at incentive-laden deals coming off all those injuries the last couple of seasons.  Plus he's no spring chicken, although saving that wear and tear in his 30s might be a net benefit.

3-4 years $115-125 million maybe

Dude inherited a rising playoff team that self-destructed under his watch.  That isn't the flex you think it is.

Where are all those great rising players today ? Funny how 1 manager has so much power to turn those risers to rust. Face it the players were not who you thought they were. There is 1 true fall guy for the fall of the franchise and your arrow keep missing the mark.

I mean it's a time filler on another quiet off season day.  Who cares?

Murakami actually looks like he could be anywhere from $140-180 million at this point...the original rumor was $300 million (matching Yamamoto), but that was before missing 2/3rds of the season in Japan.

Korean CF Lee @ $113 million actually has the record for biggest deal coming directly over from Asia to the US, Yoshida and Suzuki both under $100 million.

You'll get Michael Conforto and you'll have to like it...

He’s been on the decline for awhile now.  Also, his agent is Boras so he probably still thinks he’s worth more than he is.  I don’t see the Sox even being interested.
