At that point you might as well spend a little more and get a guy who can play CF in Bader. Bader is likely getting three years. I want nothing to do with a multi-year commitment to Bader.

Tauchman is considerably better at this point. Why do you think he’s toast? For Tauchman, my only fear is he got non-tendered over a $3.5M salary. Even with some injury risk, he’s worth that salary if he can provide even passable RF defense. Makes me worry his ability to play the OF may be compromised some by his recent health issues. I think that’s a totally fine to handle the position. I expect Sosa to be on the move shortly since Murakami makes a bat only 1B type in Sosa moot.

So you prefer the rotating DH? What is Sosa actually worth on the trade market? Somewhere between peak Christopher Morel and the Morel of 2024-25? Kepler was in a platoon last year yet was still unplayable down the stretch for the Phillies. .1 bWAR is pretty rough

That being said, I don’t use bWAR but assuming he must have had a lower value on his defense than Fangraphs. On the defense side, he did switch over to LF for the first time in his career and that might have caused some defensive fall-off. Ultimately to me he looks like a declining player but one with a little bit of juice left. Maybe $8M is a bit too high for what will likely be limited production, but seeing Lane Thomas get like $5.5M indicates it’s a weak OF market and guys will get a premium. Lukakke Appling
Pirates could really use a RH bat. Plop Robert between Cruz, Horowitz, O’Hearn, and Lowe and he’ll face his share of LHP’s.

Yeah I wouldn’t give 3 years to Bader. 2 maybe and even that might be too much. JJ Bleday could also make sense as a stopgap option.

caulfield12
If the Reds do trade Hunter Greene, they won’t be able to afford to jettison young pitching unless they get more back. But they really are missing one more impactful middle of the order hitter.
Fielder Jones
Bleday has perfect defensive profile for a corner. you could put him in CF just to fill some time in '26 but it'd be nice if '26 has some competitiveness since i suffered so long just now and as a result stare at my family with eyes of hate(daily)
