Targeted? You think the ICE agents somehow made that lady show up, obstruct their law enforcement activity and then proceed to hit one of them with her car. Thats ludicrous.

I promise you, you will get not good reactions/discussion on a Chicago based message board lol.

At no point do I ever want Matt Shaw on my team because I will always actively root against him.

The fact that Getz apparently had to talk Jerry into a 2/$34M for Murakami by making a revenue generation-based argument suggests two troubling things:

(1) Getz doesn't have the autonomy to add a 2/34 to his sub-$90M payroll, and

(2) Jerry doesn't seem to currently feel like "making the team better" is worthy of monetary investment on its own

I just can't quite imagine that we're going to see them taking on any bad money for anything so frivolous as acquiring talent.

I'd much rather argue about the following than Matt Shaw's right wing politics:

Schriffen vs. Benetti

The 78 vs. Rate Field vs. suburban stadium site

Ishbia vs. JR

Getz vs. Hahn/KW

I say options B, A, A, and neither.

A B A A---this was easy.

I don't want to have a political debate with you, as like some here I find the polarization nauseating, BUT I do care about rights and the law and procedure. From the DOJ itself:

DOJ Bylaws (https://www.justice.gov/jm/1-16000-department-justice-policy-use-force):

  • Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect.
  • Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle.

The officer very clearly was able to move out of the path of the vehicle in the video, therefore he violated the policy and the DOJ law as it relates to discharging a weapon.

It's important to know your rights, and the expectations of law enforcement. Fleeing a crime, that was a misdemeanor at best, does not allow for law enforcement to shoot you. It is black and white.

I think the latest body cam footage from the agent definitely changes the perspective on things.  The agent was an Iraq War veteran that earned the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.  Ironically, last June, the same agent had been dragged by an illegal immigrant in his car for 50 yards and he required 33 stitches as a result.  The illegal immigrant that dragged the agent had previously been arrested for domestic assault and convicted of sex crimes against an underage teenager.

It's black and white. I just cited it. Are you somehow arguing he wasn't able to get out of the way of the vehicle when he literally did? I don't care about history or emotions or stories or political affiliation.

He was already in the process of being hit by the vehicle.  He quite literally didn’t have a chance to move out of the path of the vehicle.  He thought she had intent to kill him with her vehicle, which is why he fired at her.  Her front windshield apparently had a bullet hole in it, proving she wasn’t already past him.

Also, how do you even know it was her intent to flee the scene?  Maybe she turns around and comes back for more?  It’s not as cut and dried as you are trying to portray it.  Regardless, the courts will settle this, but I doubt the guy sees any jail time.  The videos tell the story.

I should have switched the choices for the 3rd item around so that your answer was the name of a Swedish pop band.

I've said this before, but the majority of baseball players are certainly CK aligned. The sin of Shaw wasn't his beliefs, but the fact that he wasn't available for a very important game due to the death of someone he met within the year. Unwritten rule in that case being, immediate family and/or best friend is OK.

You mean when the lady went from obstructing law enforcement to trying to run a law enforcement officer over? Last I checked, its been well established that deadly force may be met with deadly force. Pretty easy to avoid being shot due to attempting to hit someone with a car by not attempting to hit someone with a car

Certainly wouldn't be considered an assassination. Wouldn't she be a law abiding citizen either, such as was the case with Kirk

This is a great place to end this.
