Sox Claim Ryan Rolison

1) The assembled playoff core fell apart, all at once. They had better pitchers. They traded them. That's what teams do in a rebuild.
2) Why was Shane Smith the best pitcher? Why is anybody the best pitcher? Somebody has to be the best pitcher. If it turned out to be Wikelman Gonzalez, then we could joke that the Sox had to get their best pitcher from elsewhere. If it was Davis Martin, then we could joke that the best pitcher was a 14th rounder coming back from injury. If it was Cannon, then the joke would be that a #5 junk-baller was their best pitcher.
3) I get the point people were making. Our best pitcher was left off another team's 40-man. That's great that you find that sad. I don't get the points you're trying to make. Why don't I get to say Crochet? He was on this team. They traded him. Cease was on the team. They traded him. They had 3 starting pitchers pretty much ready to go. Martin, Burke and Cannon. Smith was better. So what? Why do I have to be embarrassed or saddened by that?
4) I also don't get your obsession with reminding me that Hahn was the GM when Crochet was drafted. So what?
5) Are you also implying that the Sox should have had an entire top prospect team ready to go in 2024 when the old core fell apart? That's not how rebuilds work.
6) But really, the funniest part of all of this is RayRay saying that Vinny Capra was better than Shane Smith because Capra was on the 40-man, and Smith wasn't, and by extension, because Smith made the All-Star team, Vinny Capra was the best player on the White Sox in 2025. That's the messed up part.

Thank you.  A well thought out response.  If Getz hits on Paez and/or Alberto, he is the Rule 5 master of pitching.  Now he needs to find someone just as good for the position player side, cuz he and Barfield ain’t it.

At least one of Gilbert or Hudson have to be on the bubble. Neither has options left, and that's the most valuable thing about any of these guys.

But Gilbert once threw a no-hitter in the actual, like, major leagues.

I hope you have his rookie card, then.

My Clemente rookie card might just be worth slightly more...or 1968 Ryan.

Although 2-3 years ago I atempted to corner the market on ONeil Cruz rookie cards, to no avail.

Rolison is another maybe he will work out. Of course they usually do not. Having many maybes doesn't increase each ones chances. It means each one still will not work out. Its gonna be very difficult getting quality for free, or at JR's price. Good luck Getz. Good thing the pope is on your side because you are going to need divine intervention.

Haven’t been active on here for about a year so all of the personal stuff is way over my head.

SS loves it when I respond with one word poop replies, was just giving him something to smile about.

That's how it goes around here now . Good things happen and the Toxtalk response is haha are you crazy the team has lost 100 x straight seasons, in the padt they did/said the same thing .

Some of us are moving on from the past. We didnt create it so there's nothing to be embarassed about. I don't know what's going on or what went on when Getz was in his other job.

All I know is to look forward and respond to current events and try to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm accutely aware of the pitiful history of the franchise and as it's written its always been put on cheap or poor owners . As time marched on no one mentions the 2nd or 3rd or 4th in command because s%*# rolls downhill from the very top.

Why would thinking signing Chris Getz as the GM is the equivalent of signing Josh Harrison to lead you to a championship be crazy especially considering even you Getz fans think the guy who hired him is  the biggest problem?

if you think about it from a logic perspective, someone else had at least some role in player acquisition, and organization building. But Getz was a JR solo call. Not even a small guardrail on that.

Not Getz fans so much as with JR as owner any GM hired who knows the importance of data and coaches who can understand and utilize it doesnt do a much better job. He likely knows hes building a foundation for a future that he's not likely to see as GM.

I admire that he has surrounded himself with forward looking people. So I choose to be part of the forward looking group and not let the past cloud my judgment nor my ignorance shape it.

No doubt the past clouds my judgement, but Chris Getz was a part of that past. As GM, he messed up with the Cease trade, but looks like he did well on the Crochet trade. What I don’t understand is why he didn’t trade Robert when he took the job,. At the end of 2024 he admitted he was surprised at 121 losses, but thought 110 was possible. If you are planning on being that bad, you aren’t going to be good for a while, so while there may be no bigger Luis Robert guy on Soxtalk than me, it made no sense not to trade him if you weren’t going to be any good for at least 3 or 4 years. He had a front row seat to what happened with several much ballyhooed prospects the previous few years, so he should know what happens could be bad, and it was. I just want them to be good. I know it’s crazy, but I don’t get much joy in watching them play poorly. Some things make no sense. Brian Bannister supposedly is a genius, yet ‘Ethan Katz had so much influence, he cancelled him out. He gets replaced by the Royals assistant pitching coach, who someone says is the guy that made the Royals pitching staff hum, but also said that the White Sox assistant pitching coach just stretches guys out.  So a small market division rival has a guy who apparently is the reason their pitching staff improves, but in the Chris Getz model, the individual in the same position with the White Sox  is more of a yoga iimstructor. Doesn’t seem like forward thinking to me.

They need more a lot more Buddhist yoga instructors.

Look how much money it earned Cease.

They brought in that Green Beret quality control guy and we haven't heard from him since.

Thanks Bama - when the offseason picks up ( we won’t make many moves ) I’ll post more when there’s actual discussion.

Until then it’s just a circle jerk. 😆
