Chris Bassitt is the best of the bunch for teams seeking innings -- only five pitchers have thrown more over the past four seasons -- and Lucas Giolito has the highest ceiling. Nick Martinez and Zack Littell are steady strike-throwers, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander quadragenarians with enough stuff and know-how to succeed, and Tyler Mahle and German Marquez tantalizing to teams that dream on what they could get out of a full, healthy season. Walker Buehler remains a prime bounce-back candidate, Patrick Corbin a lefty who can pitch forever and Michael Lorenzen an ever-ready swingman. Depending on prices, truly every team could target this tier. Among those who have been most aggressive in mid-tier pursuit, according to sources: the White Sox, Orioles, Angels, Nationals, Mets, Padres and Diamondbacks."
Look at Ray Ray Run
That is a tough list. Marquez and tantalizing don't belong in the same sentence. Maybe 5 years ago. Batters had a 933 OPS against him last year AWAY from Colorado. Nick Martinez is OK, and Mahle won't stay healthy but I've always liked him. I just don't see Gio or Bassitt coming here. The rest of those guys are potential DFA candidates and then Scherzer who isn't going to come pitch for the Sox unless there's no other offer available. Think he just wants to compete or retire.
Squirmin' for Yermin
I'd love to grab Buehler on a cheap multi year deal, as a starter. See if you can fix him.

Maybe more, if they actually trade Pivetta to fill a hole somewhere else. Even trading Pivetta OR MMiller and Laureano to the Mets gets them a young starter, but definitely not McLean....Sproat or Teng and young hitting prospect/s. Preller has likely reached the end of his creativity rope this time around.
