LUIS ROBERT TRADED

Luis Robert 2026 batting statistics: .231/.333/.333, 13.3% BB%, 18.9% K%, .103 ISO, 97 wRC+. I'm reminded of last season when he had a stretch of excellent plate discipline but was unable to pair that with any slugging. Best stretch of hitting came when he started letting loose and chasing a bit

Yeah I think he’s a guy that needs to just be aggressive and you’ve just got to accept he’s going to be streaky.

Luis Robert won't be on the next good White Sox team. Acuna and Pauley might be. It's basically that simple. The league just told you what Robert is worth. Holding him into the season would be insane.

Agreed. A Luis that isn't getting his A-swing off isn't going to do enough damage. He's being passive IN the zone while hitting like two thirds of middle-middle pitches into the ground.

51% overall groundball rate, under 12% pulled fly ball rate, and a 3.3% barrel rate. All worse than league average and career worsts, leading to a 4-31 skid with only 4K but 0BB.

The timing at least makes for funny small sample size theater?

His defensive metrics are also down a little, so some of it could be just the general Mets struggles compounding. They broke the streak and Soto is back, so hopefully the vibes start looking up.

Wow, I hadn't been paying attention to him. I figured for all the talk about Getz getting his pocket picked, Robert must be doing something special. Turns out...nope. I wish him well, but I think he's some version of the stats he's put up over the last two seasons.

Pereira, on the other hand, that Cease trade just keeps on giving!!

Yeah his numbers have been decreasing since people were upset that he was doing good

Acuna would be a great pinch runner.

Why are we comparing Pereira to Robert? They weren’t involved in the same trade and play different positions. The obvious comparison is Acuna and Robert as they both play CF and were traded for each other. Yes, Robert has slumped lately but the Sox could have Robert in CF and Pereira in RF right now.

"funny small sample size theater"

It's not that deep.

Run that and post it. Robert isn't going to kill it like we thought.

You should update us all on Acuna as well.

Do you need to log onto Baseball-reference with your VPN?

I don’t know what he is going to do. However, I’m guessing he will significantly out-WAR Acuna by the end of the season. How much will dictate his $20 million dollar tab.

I’m in IT. I don’t need a VPN excuse for not being able to access this site or any site. The issues with this site are specifically related to Verizon’s network, and likely their DNS routing.

I watch a little Mets these days (Darling and Cohen are entertaining, especially during the slump) and several of Robert's throws have been less than exemplary, including a particularly poor throw on Monday that contributed to loss #12.
Yes the trade sucked.
But Robert also needed to go. "Good for you; good for me."

Actually, my dinky hard drive filled up, and I couldn't do anything while I kept trying to find s%*# to delete. I got a Samsung 990 Pro hard drive, and actually relied on AI walking me through the install. It reacts very calmly to being called a dumbfuck multiple times. I'm not really tech savy, but I can handle a circular saw. I told that to my computer, and it complied.

That’s a good SSD. Unfortunately, AI has also caused the prices for memory and storage to blow the F up to ridiculous prices like all computer hardware was during Covid.

I recently ordered a NAS to set up with my younger son as a fun project and to use it for file/media storage, iPhone backups, etc., but then I found out the current cost of large 12 TB spinning hard drives. And I needed to buy 4 x 12 TB HDD’s. Brutal. Even the used prices are obscene. The NAS unit itself was less than the price of two 12 TB hard drives. Bad timing to build a NAS.

That didn’t answer my question. The comparison didn’t make sense to begin with and still doesn’t make sense. You should update us all on Acuna as well. I wonder why you didn’t. Oh wait, I know why… 🤣

I don't get what you're trying to interrogate here. The literal only opinion I shared was that Luis is a player who needs to get his A-swing off. He's been in a slump of late, I looked at some of his underlying metrics and included them because they surprised me.

He cooled off as Pereira was heating up, and I thought the contrast was interesting given preseason expectations for LRJ to excel in NY and Pereira to be nothing. That's literally it. I described it in the post itself as "funny small sample size theater", because that's all it was to me.

If I compared Mune to something Aaron Judge or Cal Raleigh was doing, would you feel compelled to jump in saying they weren’t traded for each other and don’t play the same position and why aren't I compared Raleigh to Quero?

I didn't say anything about the trade or Acuna, because that wasn't the subject of my post. If you want to talk about Acuna, I'm not stopping you. If the post wasn't interesting or didn't make sense to you, that's fine. Scrolling past it is free, and I already said it's not that deep.

But you keep replying bringing up things I didn't say or even reference to make some implication of nefarious motivations you're imagining I have, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that.

Not every post is a part of some grand “us vs them” narrative. The preoccupation here with finding a “side” to be on for everything for the purpose of manufacturing arguments is so tiresome.

I really don’t care but it was basically a Caulfield post comparing two completely unrelated players. And poor Caulfield typically gets clowned for making posts like that. I was just sharing some feedback regarding your weirdly random comparison of players. Good luck.

I'm far from the first person to compare a present and former Sox here, most of whom were not traded for each other? I don't know why this would come across to you as some completely bewildering never-before-seen concept that demands explanation.

But yes, the random small sample size comparison...which I introduced as a random small sample size comparison...was in fact a random small size comparison! Good feedback, making sure I knew the thing I already said.

And "just sharing some feedback" completely explains why, when I again reiterated that it was a random small sample size comparison not intended to make any point in particular, your response was to say that I "didn't answer your question" and imply that I had some kind of underhanded motivation for not posting about something entirely different instead. Not that you care, of course.

What a totally necessary exchange.

You posted on a public message board. Thank you for sharing your post. I responded in kind. It was necessary to me to share my response to your public post. This is what a public message board is for — an exchange of communication.

My post was effectively "huh, that's interesting" and there was no reason for this to be contentious at all if not for you responding like my personal interest needed to meet some random criteria set by you in order to be justified, and then not dropping it after I said it wasn't that deep.

Very fun schtick to take snipes at my motivations over an entirely non-confrontational post that you supposedly didn't care about to begin with and then backtrack like you were just giving a little fun friendly feedback for the sake of healthy and productive public discourse though.

I'm more than happy to have a good faith exchange of communication, but I truly do wish people would stop including me in the arguments they want to have between themselves and strawmen. Let's please just leave it at that.
