These lines have nothing (or little) to do with where anybody thinks the Sox will wind up, but it's a magical spot that will inspire equal betting on both sides of the line to cancel each other out. The house makes money off the vig.

And the masses are stupid. I'm fairly certain we're both as unhappy with the "state of the nation" as it stands today.

I can't count the number of people online who "thought" the Sox would rebreak the loss record in 2025. I sure hope they didn't bet that. Voting is free, though.

Better walk this back then.

I would like to think I willed this into existent. Been saying he would be a good add for a few weeks (even if not repeatedly on here haha)

This reliever will appear in more games than Robert will.

I’m very happy with the “state of the nation”.  The Sox, not so much.

But why would it be crazy for fans to say that the Sox could rebreak a record they literally just set a year earlier?  It was the highest loss total in 125 years. I don’t think it was crazy to think the Sox could achieve any feat, no matter how awful.  Getz was literally trying to tank.  The Sox might get a phenom SS in a few months as a result.

Seranthony Dominguez has been traded at the Deadline each of the past 2 years.

The Orioles traded 3 RP at the 2025 TDL , Dominguez among them. They got the Blue Jays #10 prospect. Full details.                    https://www.mlb.com/news/orioles-trade-seranthony-dominguez-to-blue-jays-for-juaron-watts-brown

Might as well nickname him Deadline Dominguez.

I think it could be Hill. That split contract is designed to get him through waivers. You could also DFA and trade Lee, release Eisert, Gilbert, Romo, Mead, and Peters. Lotta 40th men on this roster.

Hill is an option…should have probably included him.  However, I think they’d hold off doing that until they add another OF to the mix or more likely towards the end of camp.  I agree that split contract likely allows you to get him through waivers.

I definitely think Lee eventually gets traded, but doubt that would be soon enough to accommodate the Dominguez signing.  Same applies for Mead (or Sosa) given their lack options but don’t see that being imminent.  Both Peters & Romo feel like purposeful AAA depth that will be leveraged in the event of injuries.  Gilbert did well enough last year to enter camp as a favorite for a OD bullpen spot (the lack of options help his cause too).  Eisert isn’t overly exciting but has options, so would expect him to survive until some of the other 40 man roster challenges have been worked through.

To me, Ramos is getting DFAed or traded at some point before OD, so for him it’s more about the right time to try and sneak him through waivers.  I could see that time being now, especially if there are a couple more moves coming.

Where does the other 10 mil from the Robert savings get spent?

An OF and a starter. Cheaper options.

I think they add a legit SP and force a competition for the #5 spot between Burke & Newcomb.

Both will be interesting, for different reasons.  Good starters left, very mediocre OF options.

I wish they would say what the plan is for Newcomb.  He sounded like he thinks he’s starting.

Fanduel: 64.5
Draftkings: 65.5
BetMGM:  65.5
Bovada: 65.5
BetRivers: 65.5
Caesars: 66.5

Honestly thought the limits were still tiny for these so I dont really count them (last I checked they were $50 for me) but I looked now and I see a 7k+ limit so line is pretty reasonable at this point.

Sox have second lowest projected win total ahead of only the Rockies so me calling them the 3rd worst team was actually complimentary. Of all win projections released, sportbook o/u are by far the most predictive. Eddy doesnt appear to understand market dynamics.

I agree with you. The offense should be good. That being said, The White Sox Are Coming, Tra La, Tra La!!!!

A $5 mill outfielder would just be a blocker and make things worse.  Don’t have enough to get a good player, so they are entering “spending just to spend” territory.

I just think they’ll add a veteran OF to the mix, even if it means he’s on the bench.

There are are enough outfielders still looking for a job, I think you are right.  But I don’t even think they will need to spend $5 million.

Yeah just some of the $10M.

Well, Acuna, Baldwin and Pereira should be out there most days.  Benintendi of course.  Kelenic, per some, has a handshake agreement for a spot. Korey Lee might get more time in OF – have to figure something with him.  Sosa, and maybe other IF, might shag balls in the OF.

Then there are Hill and the Tampa guy; both should be Charlotte players but, as of now, they are not.

Could use a good OF, but otherwise, I hope not.

It's so hard for a team to lose 121 games. It's happened once in the history of the game. The Rockies were a worse team than the 24 Sox and still couldn't break the record. It's simple hyperbole, the same way dudes blurt out that the Sox are on their way to a 4th 100-loss season.

I think Jairo Iriarte is probably the farthest from pitching out of the White Sox bullpen. That's an arm that would probably be grabbed right up, though. I think the Sox could just drag out the signing for 2-3 weeks, then start using the 60-day IL.

I wouldn't DFA Iriarte just yet. Still very young at 24, and has an option left. Last year was his first year out the pen - I'd give him a little longer leash and see if they can't reign his control back in. I wonder if the Sox are trying to move someone in a trade to free up a spot.

Iriarte has lost a ton of status the past two years as his stuff has gone backwards.  I’m not yet fully convinced someone would put a claim in on him at this point.

I keep thinking a lefty like Gilbert or Eisert will go with all the lefties added (even NRI ones)

Bryan Hudson is still on the 40 man.  He should be the first to go.

Get a somewhat legit SP with the rest of the money.

Hope Kelenic figures something out and put him in LF, Acuna in CF, Pereira/Brooksie in RF with Beni at DH.

Trade Sosa for a prospect not on the 40 man.
