I realize we have Murakami + full season Colson but not sure this line-up can afford to be trading away 22 HRs out of it, especially with Robert gone. Hopefully the return is good.

You can blame Andrew Benintendi for that.  He'll be the DH and Sosa doesn't have a position here. Or else I would make him the DH

He's either younger than his years because his career IP's are low because of all the injuries, or he's old for his age because of all the injuries. He's had an arm injury (Elbow or Shoulder injuries) land him on the IL every year since 2019 but for 2023.

I'm curious what kind of money they would throw in on a deal with him. To me a potential trade for him doesn't move the needle unless your getting something useful along with him.

I'd rather trade for former Rule 5 Draft pick Shane Drohan than those 2.

Edit: it makes me think Sosa would not be involved though

Maybe interest in Ramos is pretty heavy and the Sox can get an arm back.

Really dont know how he can be counted on as a starter anymore. If for some reason hes being involved in talks with white sox, it has to be a bullpen piece but again they need outfield and starting pitching more. Trading any little value we have again a possible starter when there is so much free agents is poor use of goods.

Would rather be trading to get one of their outfielders than the pitching they have.

I meant in a bad contract Benintendi swap. Doesn’t really work. They’ve got like 5 OFs on their roster: Anthony, Duran, Abreu, Rafaela (needs to be in CF), and Yoshida

Wouldn't make any sense to give up talent for Hicks. Same with Sandoval. And Bello is too good to make sense...you wouldn't want to give up the talent that he should cost, given that it's asinine to acquire a veteran MLB pitcher on a long-term deal when you're far from contention. Bello trade is the kind of thing you'd do in a year or two when your strengths and weaknesses are clear and you're willing to gamble a little bit to shore up the rotation.

Abreu and Rafaela are both very good. Rafaela is really not Getz's "type"; takes horrifically bad at bats. Abreu is the more likely target, I think. I don't know what the Sox could give them that would make sense for both sides. Hard for me to imagine Getz giving up something really valuable for a guy who already has 2 years of service time.

Kristian Campbell, Ceddanne Rafaela, Jarren Duran are three guys I like that could potentially be available to varying extents. Big no on Hicks and Sandoval. Big yes on Bello but I doubt they're dealing him.

Hicks + Campbell though? If you ate all money and cost was low?

Absolutely. I'm not sure how common this is in MLB though, taking on a bad contract with a prospect sweetener. Feels even less common for a Jerry Reinsdorf team. Henry and Fenway Group might be keen on such a deal, they have an expensive, middling soccer team to pay for. But our Sox are absolutely in a position to do a deal like that if it's available. Hicks's contract is not so bad, he can kinda play, he's just pointless to this team in a vacuum.

Campbell already signed an extension with the Red Sox and will be paid pretty good to maybe not be in the majors. I’m including his money as well in the low cost to acquire.

Or 30 HRs potentially with Sosa  but the path to ABs may not be there as much as last year.
