Murphy opening and Hays batting 3rd for Charlotte.

Murphy definitely rusty. Walk, popout, walk, HBP and then he's lifted at 22 pitches.

Hays and Kelenic both homered, but Knights trailing 9-3.

I'd replace Acuna with Kelenic and if he doesn't make it through waivers oh well.

WS rained out, they'll play 2 tomorrow

Oppor pitching well through 2 innings.

This is the Oppor I was excited to see.

Very encouraging from Oppor

Oppor 4 IP, 2 hits, 1 BB and 6 Ks. Really nice bounce back.

@Sleepy Harold @Y2Jimmy0 What are your thoughts on Jacob Gonzalez? Ever since he was drafted I've read people say how bad of a pick it was and that he will bust. He certainly hasn't performed well for a 1st round pick throughout his minor league career so far and didn't even make the FutureSox top 30.

He's off to a great start so far. Maybe he finally put it together. Do you think his start so far is smoke and mirrors, or can he still be a good player?

Thanks again for all the great work you guys do. You are second to none when it comes to minor league coverage.

Ron you're still not going to get the answer you seek regardless of the flowery and ostentatious...almost border ing on obsequious, language.

But nice try.

Too much water under the bridge with him in the Sox organization.

Thanks Ron. I think he plays in the majors for sure. I'd rather see him than Tanner Murray for example. I'm not sure he ever becomes a regular though.

I will say I jumped off the Gonzalez train relatively quickly because he didn't show enough at any stop in the minors, but I'll need to see an extended run of success in AAA before I come off that hill. Like James said, definitely expect to see him in the majors at some point due to the draft spot/pedigree, but I suppose getting a UTIL guy is better than nothing.

It's funny because I think we thought he'd be a guy that would dominate early and fade as he moved up. He's kinda done the opposite but failing so early I was super out on.

But yes - I don't think he'll be more than a call up guy for spots.

I think a "train" to describe the people who had confidence in Gonzalez would look something like one of those one man manual pump carts used in the old days on a railroad line.

Consider me the Jason Mendoza for the Jacob Gonzalez pump cart, but pretty much entirely out of feeling bad for the kid.
