He was cleared to play. Let me know when you know something different.

Like Robert when he was swinging with just one hand?

Holy s%*#! Has the White Sox Buzzkill Army come out in this thread, or what?

How can this not be seen as a necessary and good move. Baldwin got hurt; Hays is hurt; Kelenic ain’t doin’ it; Acuna is an automatic out. They need someone, a BODY. Bitching about dumpster diving is pointless. Getz is doing what he has to do to help the pay .500 ball in May . . . like they did in April. . . remember April.

Another thing: can we stop with the calls to DFA Benintendi. The people on here wanting him DFAed are lemmings repeated what others say on here, just echoing off each other regardless of how silly it is.

I understand you think he’s way overpaid; I get that, but don’t you guys get that the Sox would still have to pay him even after he is released?

And it’s stupid to say/ imply that this Sox team would be better without Benintendi. After Mune and Colson, Beni and Vargas are their best bats. The team has really been playing well the last month and Benintendi is a major part of that success. Why would the Sox DFA a player (whom they’d have to pay anyway) who is helping them have their best results in four years, especially when most the bats in the outfield right now (see my 1st statement) are so weak. It makes no sense.

That’s what’s so weird and off putting about the tone of this thread: looking at the 70% of the posts on this thread you’d think the White Sox were on their way to another 100 loss season, not about to move in contention for the Division lead.

And Caulfield with his Tigers at 61.5% playoff odds . . . . by the two or three months, at least, that it takes for Skubal to return, they’re gonna be looking up at these White Sox.

-0.5 fWAR Acuna and Benintendi provide the same negative value and have contributed equally to 16-18.

It’s on Getz to find someone/anyone that can at least provide 1-2 fWAR production.

Holding into Benintendi is the equivalent of Enron Worldcom and AIG returning to their previously established market values.

See Phillies cutting Castellanos to get a theoretically more productive player in there.

nice to have a 1b beating it out. Vaughn would have been out by 10 steps there

And told to not so briskly jog the bases, lol. You can’t deny this s%*#. It actually happened, and it continues to happen.

That's my point. There aren't any.

The fact the Sox only option is this refuse is an indictment in itself. They can't even develop competent outfielders on their own and have to rely on dumpster diving three years into yet another rebuild isn't good.

You dont call up prospects to cover the fifth OF spot

He has. Like I said elsewhere, Antonacci, Peters and Pereira have all delivered positive WAR. Grichuk is a 5th OF. The Phillies cut Castellanos in his last year of control. Weird how they held onto Castellanos for all of 2025 when he put up negative WAR. I guess the Phillies are cheap, and Dombrowski has too big an ego to admit he made a mistake and DFA after one bad month.

They don't even have home grown competent guys in the first four outfield spots.

Antonacci is a wild card right now, an infielder trying to learn the position.

Why do they have to be home grown? Antonacci looks solid. They targeted two guys on the Rays, and they're also solid in the OF. All the glumlords here whine about Derek Hill being "old", but he's a solid defensive OF.

We also heard for years we needed to trade Burger when he was just 26/27 and yet got nothing back in return for him that wasn't on Getz's 2022-23 Jake Eder top prospects scouting report.

Benintendi was 4 for 5 today. Kelenic 3-5. Maybe we don’t Grichuk after all.

Another falsehood repeated on here so often by the lemmings that it has become accepted fact.

So you mean a batter’s follow-through where he releases the bat with his trailing hand and is holding it one handed was interpreted as swinging one handed and an underachieving athlete blamed his poor performance on an “undiagnosed” injury.

And then Getz haters jumped on it and the lemmings now repeat it as fact. I got it.

Anyone who watched Robert closely during those days was in complete disbelief he was allowed to go up there and try to hit.

Everyone saw it with their own eyes.

It was painful to watch for anyone who has played at higher levels...judt imagining trying to compete against elite big league stuff like that.

Another spectacle.

Don't be gullible. This isn't even something up for interpretation.

It happened, and was well reported on this site at the time. You must not have been paying attention, lemming.

Maybe you should try succeeding at a Google search first, unlike the last time you tried to tell everyone that 66% was a good save percentage for a closer, and you could have easily found out the details for yourself.

Stupid organizations do stupid things, so perhaps you should accept the truth rather than s%*#-talking posters who actually remember the facts of what happened? This happened as well during the same season…

Tony La Russa says White Sox players told to ‘slow it dow...

"Just shut up".

We all know Merkin will sometimes report openly negative things to maintain access with grumpy chatboards. But sometimes, when he doesn't realize, he accidently reports the truth:

“Yes, I asked them to let me try to play, but I also think it was my mistake because I didn’t realize at that moment that trying to do that, I wasn’t helping them. I wanted to play because the team was in a very good position. We were making a push to make the playoffs and I wanted to be part of that and help the team. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it.”

“That kind of backfired on what I was trying to do. Again, I think that was my mistake. It’s something I learned from,” Robert said.

So we have a player who overruled the team and demanded to be put in the lineup because he wanted to feel important.

Ignoring the ridiculous non sequitor, so we have a management that is apparently incapable of saying no? That's not better, you realize that, right?

So all of the zero people who have played AAA baseball on this board wept at their computers? I heard the same story, except the pirate captain then grabbed the protagonist, tore off the flimsy gown, then ravished our hero in an afternoon of brine-swept heavenly love-making. LOL.

People here still mock TLR for telling players to "slow it down". Just a quick note, people on this site blurting out negative things isn't "reporting". You should probably learn the meaning of that word. A negative nellie having a podcast where he engages in hyperbole for clicks and likes isn't "reporting".

"Ridiculous non sequitor (sic)"?

You mean, like, quoting you? When TLR told players to slow it down, this board and other sites who exist only for clicks and likes demanded 110% from their players. Robert, in turn, ADMITTED he made the decision, right there in your article. We've all seen the video of the manager coming out to pull Mike Mussina, and Mussina yells at him to get his ass back in the dugout. What does the team do next? Call the police and have him arrested for trespassing?

Robert demanded to bat. He said so right there in your article. Reluctantly, the Sox didn't call the police and have him restrained. My recollection was that he had both hands on the bat, and like Vilehoopster accurately relays, let go with one hand on the follow-through. He wasn't pulling a Pete Gray, for heaven's sake. As we've already established and agree upon, Merkin engaged in hyperbole for likes and clicks.
