Thoughts on selling high on Meidroth?

Iguchi really wasn’t that great outside of the WS year in 2005. We just remember him as better than he was because of the WS and that it had been such a long drought at 2B. Ray Ray owned Iguchi.

Durham really was a complete player, very underrated.

  • Feels like people have been in a rush to move on from Meidroth basically since he debuted, and I really don't understand why.

When he was called up last year, my husband noticed that he looks like Nathan from South Park (which makes Vasil Mimsy I guess) so I'll be sad for weird comedy reasons when they eventually get rid of

  • 12 hits this year - based on his career thus far, he's on pace to get to 3000 in his age 100 season.

Except defensive lapses and Ks...although great going out into the outfield for popups.

I feel like I have said this a million times, but I will say it again. These things have a way of sorting themselves out. I can't remember the last time we had an actual roster crunch or positional fight because we had too many good players at the same time. Oh we have these debates all of the time about what if this guy makes it, but until that actually happens, just play the guys in front of you. The odds that everyone of these guys makes it and forces Ant and Meidroth into some kind of fight to the death for only 2B, then we have a great problem people you have someone who you can then trade for a nice return. As it stands today, no one worth a damn is being blocked. Let them play and see who fails and who makes it.

Six years double figures in home runs, stole a ton of bases and had some good years batting average wise. His error totals weren't crazy, we're not talking Tim Anderson here and the strike outs weren't ridiculous.

I'd take his career anytime on my team.

You are 100 % right. But we all have visions of the perfect starting lineup in which it’s like MLB The Show with injuries turned off and you can have Antonacci’s better bat at 2B and add a power bat in LF for 162 games a year. 🤣

Meidroth has been something of a virtuoso at 2B defensively. He has range to his right and up the middle and has a quick catch and release on double plays. According to Baseball Reference, Chase has a .266 BA with 14 doubles and 6 HR. Replace him? No. What other lame brain ideas are out there to break up one of the best position player groups the White Sox have had since winning the World Series? Then consider his value as a gamer to this team in the clubhouse and on the field. The old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" should apply.

Roch is the no. 1 pick, but at this point, it is hard to project him as being better than Colson Montgomery or Vargas or Meidroth at their respective positions. Once Roch has proven himself at a position of his choice and has had a minimum of 100 ABs at AAA, then he will get his chance at the major league level. After seeing so many other heralded Draft choices under perform or even fail, I am taking a wait and see approach on Roch. He might be another Bobby Witt Jr, or not.

He will never be another Bobby Witt in power or speed or defensive brilliance.

Meidroth is a very good but not quite great/elite defender.

2006-2008 Sox position groups, 2019-2021 all make good arguments.

Current White Sox still not getting enough from OF overall...catcher pre Teel and DH has been below average, too.

I just said to wait to see what Roch does in the Minors for Csakes.

Nothing wrong with that thought at all. And there are even more variables. Will Mune even be here still after 2027 once Roch is ready? Maybe not. Maybe Vargas is playing 1B after next season? Even if you are a Getz hater, you can’t argue that he hasn’t acquired players with positional flexibility unlike Hahn who loved acquiring positionless turnstile DH’s.
