Add Mune back to the line up with a 45+ HR pace and Will is going to get a whole lot smarter all of the sudden.

Dope.

Are you calling someone a dope(derogatory) or saying that is a dope idea (complimentary)

I have no issue with the pinch hitting. I think Venable has actually been pretty good in that regard by putting his hitters in favorable situations. I think the bunting has also been scaled way back of late, which is a good thing.

The way he manages a pitching staff is the biggest concern to me. It seems he has no feel. Case in point, leaving Fedde in the game to face Carpenter yesterday and letting Rock die out there today.

I agree there have been some questionable pitching decisions, but I would add the lack of pitching talent / depth has made Venable’s job much harder. I think we wait and see when he’s got a stronger staff to truly assess him in this area.

Meidroth is just a guy who hustles.

I gave him a C but I haven’t been a fan from the beginning, my wish was that Getz after the Grifol debacle would hire a veteran manager to nature and teach all the kids we have had in the rebuilding process, too bad we didn’t steal Kevin Cash from the Rays, he would have been perfect.

I think you are in the wrong thread.

They need a few more bats - hopefully they can got hit hear and bounce back against Cleveland. Teel coming back will be nice and than Mune hopefully not far behind!

No one actually knows how much of an effect Venable has, but I tend to believe he’s helping things along more than he’s holding the team back.

It’s not like this is an underachieving team that’s oozing with talent but getting in their own way. (Ahem, 2021-2023 White Sox)

One thing that baffles me about Venables is batting Meidroth 5th or even 4th. I like the guy, but his .212 batting average with RISP tells me he is not an RBI guy and has no business batting in the heart of the order.

Any type of decision you see on a regular basis — bunting, pinch hitting, player positioning, bullpen usage — you should assume that they are coming from Getz. Front office is deciding on the philosophy of these things, hopefully based on some kind of careful analysis, and then Venable is asked to execute the philosophy in the games (and make sure the players buy in).

I didn't watch yesterday, but from what I'm hearing we put Acuna at SS and he missed a play that Colson probably could have made. And this cost is the game. We.also have the quote from Jeff A great where Venable said he thinks Colson and Acuna are equal defensively at SS.

This thread... Ron vindicated yet again? Venable blowing it with his decisionmaking.

Great leader of men, does some super aggressive saber style stuff I like with PH, buy also a bunch of stupid s%*# I can't stand. I give him a solid B. It's not like he's got a superstar team underachieiving.

I'm about to downgrade him from C to D for doubling down with Colson at 3B tonight.

Everyone even Tony knows Colson cannot play third. Ridiculous.

Color me curious if Keel is actually healthy. Doubtful.

There wasnt talent on that team. Who was the talent? None of them did anything after leaving the Sox. It was just a bunch of bums with too high expectations.

I hereby petition to change the official SoxTalk managerial grade for Will Venable from a "C" to a "D".

I'm watching the post game show and they're comparing Taylor and Dominguez in save/non save situations. Venable is completely mismanaging this bullpen and its obvious to everyone with access to the stats.

F!

Venereal bunts even too often for Ozzie's liking.

Venable bunts too much and handles his bullpen like Kevin handles a pot of chili, but…

He’s not Pedro. He’s not Ricky. He’s definitely not Tony. He’s not Robin.

The culture is great and that alone gets him some leeway.

He gets a B from me.

Kevin does save the Chili after it is spilled, for what it's worth.

You’re confusing talent with results, which is my whole point.

Giolito, Lynn, Cease, Rodon, Kopech, Hendriks, Kimbrel, Abreu, TA, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Grandal and Vaughn all had tons of talent. They just couldn’t turn it into success.

The 2024 team? That’s a team that actually had very little talent.

Saw this going around with Tigers fan, limited metric and obviously roster-dependent but interesting.

He seems to focus specifically on mid-inning BP moves rather than overall
