1 hour ago1 hr Now that the team is competitive and cutting/DFAing guys is beginning to hurt, it got me thinking. Several relievers that people like in the minors aren't on the 40 man roster. To get someone on, someone has to go. One way to get extra 40 man spots is via the 60 day dl as those on the 60 day don't count towards the 40. They do have to be added back at the end of the year as you go through the offseason. Prospects meeting years in the minors parameters also must be added or are exposed to the rule 5 draft. The WS currently have 8 players on the 60 day dl with only Hayes becoming a free agent. The impending roster crunch that could cause at year end or as they return from rehab may make things a lot more interesting at the trade deadline. Some prospects may get moved just because of the now much tighter 40 man.
