Baseball Savant isn't registering that xwoba as statistically significant. Neither is his .200 batting average, right, but more in line with the player that he actually is. An MLB player to be sure, just not a particularly good one.

The problem is you are actually drawing conclusions off a SSS impacted by a ridiculously low .182 BABIP and declaring the player is “not a very good one”.

Half the time he just slots in as a good utility guy. Given the depth in the org it was an OK trade. We just won't know for 3-5 years how it looks.
Tuesday at 11:10 PM3 days I think Gonzalez is a good player. Heck, I wanted to keep him and let him spend most of the time at DH instead of our still negative fWAR guy. I think he'll hit well; probably like Mead. But I don't lament it...I guess because I understood the trade and I don't think there's a huge risk.Speaking of Mead, it's okay with me if we call up the guy we traded him for and let him DH.In the long run, pretty impressive Sox development to turn-around 2 hitters so quickly.
