I like Guff but love the job he has now. Tbh I'm a bit agnostic only because when I'm out and about, I just put on the radio. Len and DJ are just so good. For me, Kaspar is a future HOFer as a radio broadcaster. It's people like him and Rooney that made me fall in love with the game.

I agree, Len and DJ are phenomenal. I hope they both stay on the air for decades to come.

I listened to today’s (8/23) game against the Mets, and it’s so much better than the Schriff experience. He doesn’t let the game breathe at all. Against the Cubs, there several times where he tried to get Stone to engage in Cubs bashing or Wrigley bashing, and Stone didn’t bite.

Schriff needs to stop selling the Sox to Sox fans. We’re watching the game already. Not sure why it seems like he’s trying to convince me to be a fan.

DJ was terrible (terrible!) when he started, so there is hope for Schriff, but perhaps he can listen to some games called by the best announcers and learn from how they back off and let the pictures on tv do some of the talking.

The Saturday evening broadcast...7th inning I believe....out of nowhere Scriff starts talking about Caitlyn Clark...that he has tickets to go watch her Sunday night (??)...and I think Stone had no idea what to say. Eventually Stone chimes in (paraphase) with "well, if this (White Sox v Mets) game keeps going the way it has, tomorrow's game will determine who wins the series"...

WTF Scriff? WHO CARES! Time and place Scriff...he is just so bad!

wonderful. burn that place to the ground. i don't buy it though, in the same breath he s%*# talks the red line about how dangerous it is. which fair enough, but still, shut up about it.

little bit pedantic. you know who the last sox announcer was, right? that guy talked about literally everything except the baseball game. yet, people think he's the best announcer in the world.

Benetti talked about the history of the White Sox all the time! And he did incorporate things like "Sox Math" or whatever it was called...but even that included White Sox history! Night and day difference between Benetti and Scriff. Not even close! As I said in my post...time and place! Scriff doesn't get that! It as though he forgets he is broadcasting TO White Sox fans...and the basic interview type questions he asks Stone to answer are annoying as well! Maybe he is better suited for an ESPN type broadcast...maybe!

I like Benetti just fine and appreciate his knowledge, but it's essentially a standup routine with a baseball game going on in the background. Go listen to some Tigers games as a refresher.

Talking about another sporting event happening seems like a perfectly normal thing for any announcer to do. Also, that moron Enes Kanter just got ejected from the Sky game for going onto the court and arguing with players.

Did she really go out onto the court?

Just a bit of fake news from nrockway.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7534362/2026/08/23/enes-kanter-freedom-ejected-natasha-cloud-sky-fever-wnba/

Tricia Smith, a fan who said she sat next to Freedom, said Cloud instigated the confrontation on Sunday night.

Natasha Cloud scored. She came over and threw her hands up and was talking s— to his face,” said Smith, a Boise, Idaho, native, who said she didn’t know Freedom before the game. “So he stood up and said, like, ‘What? What do you want?’ He didn’t do a thing. I’ve sat next to him the whole game. He’s a great guy. He’s taken probably 50 pictures tonight.”

So the Sky are just full of morons, I guess. They had another player hit Sophie Cunningham in the head and when she got ejected, blamed "white privilege".

Sad to see how players treat Clark and Cunningham considering they're responsible for so much attention for the league.

It was more of a takedown around the neck from behind, but the point remains.

Crazy to me the WNBA wants to take the side of maybe 10% of the entire country....IMO the commissioner has to go. Need to bring in someone much more digital media save that believes she's more responsible than the players for the league's success.

Cunningham is a bench player who only has popularity because she's transphobic and is choosing to use her platform to spread hatred. Clark is a generational superstar but I'm not sure what attention Cunningham has brought onto the league beyond getting a certain sect of people interested.

Cunningham? Really............That girls averages about 8 points, 2 Boards a game and is somehow being mentioned as a face of the WNBA? That whole league is trash from commissioner to the petty stuff from the players. Caitlin is a great player and there are many others who are very good and just about their business. However, Cunningham is everything that is wrong with that league when it comes to marketing the product. Imagine a NBA player with the player profile of Cunningham being a face of the league.......IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN!

Yea you can argue Clark for sure (although some of the hate she gets is by her own doing). Cunningham? f*** outta here. Try Angel Reese. Thats another one who gets alot of hate (again alot of it by her own doing) but has brought so much to the WNBA as well.

Like Kate Martin before her, she's become one of the Top Ten most recognizable players in the league...maybe even Top 5. But it's all about setting up her post basketball career.

And the Fever now have all the top 10+ broadcasts in league history, including All Star games and the 2024 draft.

O.Miles/Collier Bueckers/Fudd Reese Aja Wilson Stewart/Ionescu don't get games moved to 15-20,000 seat arenas or get greeted like the Beatles in Toronto last week (only trip there.)

Yes becuase she's a bigot. She's not a great player and if she chose not to open her mouth about this stuff, nobody would care who she is. Also, as someone who does watch a lot of women's sports and is in fact a season ticket holder to for my local NWSL club, cunningham's views run in direct contrast with most supporters of women's sports.

Cunningham is #2 in the league in jersey sales. She obviously is marketing herself and the league very well. She is bringing attention and players hate her. Sad to see.

Like her or not, she is one of the most popular players in the league. #2 in jerseys sales, only behind Clark. She drives attention to a league that desperately needs it.

Can you provide an example of bigotry from Cunningham?

YEAH BUDDY!

There is literally nothing on the positive side for Schiffren except for enunciating words.

He's not a baseball guy and doesn't really know the game

He's not a Sox guy and doesn't really know the organization

He's not a particularly gifted or dynamic broadcaster

So why retain him? What would be the point? Even though he is improving, improving from an F to a D+ doesn't mean you should have the job

I would rather have Connor McKnight or someone who at least has been inside the org and is one of us than this guy.

Not always good attention. To me she does this for her own good to set herself up after basketball because she's not very good at basketball.

I think she said something that made sense in a vacuum but didn't realize how many trans/LGBTQIA fans the league actually has (as a straight girl like Clark and Hill.)

She lives in a bit of a bubble...some would say one of ignorance.

I still find it hard to believe more than 10-15% of Americans desire genetic males to be competing across middle and high school sports.

We've had the rare female Little Leaguers and kickers (Sophie actually did that in hs), but I don't think the argument is as much about inclusion of trans athletes across female sports as it is combating intolerance/bigotry/hate.

Maybe if all the WNBA fans invested 4+ hours to watch "Tip Toe," they would at least develop a bit more empathy.

But most of the commentary and pundits haven't even watched a single WNBA game in their lifetimes.

Also Cloud 100% used a national tv broadcast to spark that confrontation deliberately.

Would Enes Kanter really go to the game thinking he might be able to hook up with Cunninghan? Seems highly highly improbable.

I feel bad criticizing the guy. He seems like a decent guy and especially since someone suggested that he might check fan forums. But, I think the Sox should move on from him and find someone else.
