He was a top 70 prospect, so the Yankees must have prioritized him for a couple seasons.Teel doesn't really enter the conversation. They have a bunch of RHH outfielders. They're not going to cut Kyle Teel to make room for Joey Bart. Grichuk does what Hays should have been doing. The front office seems to think Doyle's a better upside play than Pereira.Teel being hurt means another catcher has to be on the 40 man roster

Not that big of a cost, but when said outfielder has a career line like the one below, it looks like a potential waste of resources, and I understand that he has an excellent glove..234.285.385.670The Rockies gave away Doyle for free.

17 hours ago17 hr This is why you don't spend $6M on marginal platoon OFers. They're relatively easy to find, it's also why you don't pay $10M for a bullpen arm if he's not a legit backend bullpen arm. Go spend $15M on a legit OF or get someone that can actually close and pay top market value, but stop with a persistent strategy of mediocrity. I feel like every addition where they're making more than Arb money is just settling for marginal players with mediocre value. All that bad money adds up when you consistently waste it on replaceable players.

They’ll typically spend a pile of money on a bunch of mediocrity rather than spend a lot on a single quality player.

As "fiscally responsible" (his words) as he is how this doesn't get him angry at his front office is beyond me.They'll literally waste millions of dollars every year it seems on stiffs, has-been's, retreads and injury-prone guys hoping to catch lightening in a bottle. But to spend top dollar for players like Machado, Harper and their ilk....nope, can't do that!

4 hours ago4 hr Would you rather have Braden play RF and sink or swim (mostly sinking of late) in a year they are in 1st place or would you send him down and have had one of these guys take at bats in RF? I think I still take Braden but could see an argument why you may not think he’s ready and needs to work on things in the minors.

And using Dominquez doesn't count even though he contributed 3X as many save as the top White Sox save RP from all of last year and helped offset a good portion off the cost of 2 years of Castillo. I'm not counting the 2028 option since I'm pretty sure it won't be picked up because Castillo has long odds of reaching that innings count in 2027. No reason to exclude Newcomb since he was a FA but that's typical of that poster's sloppy data work. Apparently other off season acquisitions who've made impacts don't count like Hudson, Peters and Hicks . Plus considering the Sox were still rebuilding they left space for incoming rookies to make an impact like Mune, Antonacci , Braden Montgomery and Peters after Acuna failed in the OF. Plus they didn't have payroll as usual this off season so they used the trade of Robert's full $20M salary to sign Hays and Dominquez and the trade that netted them Sandlin and Hicks who hasn't given up a single run since May 20th.
