Considering the main reason they got him was to give them innings, I have to laugh at the excuses for him only going 4 innings.

That's on Venable. He was at 80 pitches.

Boston, just like the last series against them, is the hottest team in baseball. Their pitching has been incredible and they’re seemingly squaring up anything thrown at them. That’s a tough team to be

By my count, Sox are 14-12 in their last 26. 0-5 vs. Boston, 14-7 vs. everyone else. Would have been nice to have caught them in May or June.

  • Would be absolutely hilarious if they pull off this game and twins and guardians lose again, and the Sox gain another game after getting smacked around by Boston

He was fine today. Played good defense and had a few hits. Vargas was the worst player on the field tonight.

Colson has been a drag for weeks on end. I feel sorry for him. He looks pathetic at the plate. He’s embarrassing himself..

When the expensive starter that you decided to give $30 million to in a playoff push that will earn an average of $750K a start until he is a free agent gives up 5 runs. 🤣🤣🤣

Only "expensive" in Sox dollars

I don’t think it was gonna cost that much but anyone in top 10 for a rental would be an overpay

Right, but it sure seems like they wanted an overpay.

You needed one more inning from Castillo and then you could have gone

Hudson 6th

Taylor 7th/8th

Hicks/Brazoban 9th

this board, man…

Cleveland just burned through 3 games against one of the weakest opponents on their schedule. Got swept.

Twins playing 3 against the lowly Royals and lose 2 of 3.

Sox, on the other hand, just rolled through the hardest part of their schedule and went 5-6 against TB, NYY, and BOS.

We lost half a game while going through our toughest stretch. And yall bitching about it? Crazy.

True, but you said it. We aren’t paying $30+ million a year for a starter under Jerry so $23 million is a lot of money.

Aren’t Tigers just as big of a threat now?

After trading Skubal?

He can’t throw his change up anymore. There’s a reason he has struggled so much.

We'll see that's all I can tell you .

It's asinine football mentally . This isn't 1 of 16 games. We're likely to take 2 of 3 from Cleveland . why the f*** are you laughing ? ARe you happy 1 game makes you a king for a day ?

Look look everybody we lost to the hottest team in baseball 3 games in a row just like we did in the other 3 games against them without Castillo, Bart, Brazoban and Doyle. ANd this one was the closest we came.

But sure keep being giddy so you can celebrate losses .

Lol

I still take my chances with mune

Most of these guys have barely been in the big leagues for a year.

Hard to believe they've been in 1st place for so long.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the 1st year under Ventura

Hasse hits .224 for his career. Bring him up. It can't be worse.

Exactly, if there’s a season next year, he’s your big ticket acquisition. There’s a reason you usually see contending teams go after players doing well during the season at the deadline and not reclamation projects. In a lot of ways, Getz acted like this was a team that wasn’t really in contention.

I was laughing at your clueless assessment Ron Willie. Getz didn’t acquire a former ace like Castillo to lose against the better teams in a playoff race. Stop making excuses, jabroni.

Exactly. You don't pull him after 4 if you know you only have 4 useable relievers.

That 2023 dude is an absolute clown, just begging for attention.

Entertaining game, result aside. Boston might win it all if they don't flame out before they get there.

Can't be mad at the effort, but certainly lots of lessons to take away for the boys and the staff in what has to be the closest to a playoff game they've had this season. Better to learn them now than then.

Frustrating to be one strike away so many times, technically never trailed until the walkoff RBI.

But they didn't lose any ground in the meantime and still control their own fate.

And on the bright side, feels like we could see McDougal (or Smith) tomorrow? Murphy will be the option casualty for a fresh arm.

They did lose ground to Detroit and Minnesota.

Dude, do you actively cheer against Sox players because you don’t like Getz? Maybe not, but it comes across that way to me and likely at least some others.

Sure, they have a lot of depth and a lineup that’s thriving. Dingler is a damn star now.

Detroit is dangerous.

I worry more about them then Cleveland and minny

And traded away 40% of their starting staff. Quit with the hyperbole to prove a point, man. You’re a smarter fan than that.

Framber, Melton, Madden, Montero and Jobe/Ryan coming back soon. I would put that on par, if not better, than the WSox

He was 2-5 with a walk. I can't imagine what you would say about a 4-strikeout 0-5.
