Boston, just like the last series against them, is the hottest team in baseball. Their pitching has been incredible and they’re seemingly squaring up anything thrown at them. That’s a tough team to be

By my count, Sox are 14-12 in their last 26. 0-5 vs. Boston, 14-7 vs. everyone else. Would have been nice to have caught them in May or June.

  • Would be absolutely hilarious if they pull off this game and twins and guardians lose again, and the Sox gain another game after getting smacked around by Boston

That's why I gave the trades a C - . However tough team after the TDL so I didn't expect it to look great right away. We'll see how it plays out.

Played the Red Sox 6 games in the middle of the biggest hot streak in their history.

What’s the point of acquiring Castillo if he can’t be competitive against a good team? Also, good luck to him throwing primarily high fastballs during the summer at the Rate

What coaching decisions? Venable managed this game into the 13th inning. The Red Sox are just a better team on a fucking roll. Cut the BS!!

Not walking Abreu in the 9th with a righty up next, wasting your whole bench so early in the game, Jirschelle's awful send in extras

Were you excited to give of Bonemer or McDougal for Stephenson?

I don’t think it was gonna cost that much but anyone in top 10 for a rental would be an overpay

It wouldn’t have cost Bonemer. McDougal would have been fine with me, he’s going to be a reliever.

He was competitive against a good team on an ungodly roll. Starters don't regularly go beyond the 4th in the playoffs, and this was a playoff atmosphere.

You will have everyone available tomorrow except Taylor.

You need 5 good innings from schultz

OOF!

Losing his AL Manager of the Year spot to interim Tracy or Cash

Venable was a good manager for the old Sox 100 + loss team, but is too flawed for a contending first place team. IMO.

It would have cost something they weren't willing to pay.

Awful bullpen management. Need to send a couple guys down

Bullpen management is easy if you have solid arms available. Managers don't make bullpens great. Bullpens make managers great.

Colson Montgomery does not belong in the major leagues. His at-bats have been just as bad (or maybe even worse) than Romo’s. Colson looks unfixable.

Hmmm wonder who they might sacrifice off the 40 to call up a pitcher who isn't on the 40.

Exactly. Great point. If you acquire a supposed expensive as supposed ace that can’t serve as a stopper against a hot team, what was the point?

Considering the main reason they got him was to give them innings, I have to laugh at the excuses for him only going 4 innings.

SInce when does a 1 game sample size matter for anyone especially a pitcher.

In the 12th, we get 3 hits and a walk and score 1. They get no hits and a wild pitch and score 1. That was that.

Getz traded for a terrible Castillo, and, not surprisingly, he's still terrible. And moving Fedde to the pen has been a disaster. Except really for the catcher trade, these were trades just to make trades. And they were done on the other teams' terms....and he listens to these GMs who are trying to rip him off.

Entertaining game, result aside. Boston might win it all if they don't flame out before they get there.

Can't be mad at the effort, but certainly lots of lessons to take away for the boys and the staff in what has to be the closest to a playoff game they've had this season. Better to learn them now than then.

Frustrating to be one strike away so many times, technically never trailed until the walkoff RBI.

But they didn't lose any ground in the meantime and still control their own fate.

And on the bright side, feels like we could see McDougal (or Smith) tomorrow? Murphy will be the option casualty for a fresh arm.

He was fine today. Played good defense and had a few hits. Vargas was the worst player on the field tonight.

Does it matter? Getz sacrificed better players than he acquired.

I also wonder if Will was willing to useFedde, why he did not bring him in to close the game on the 10th?

Wowwww

Did you watch the game?

I love Will Venable but he managed the game like it was 7 inning high school game.

He can’t throw his change up anymore. There’s a reason he has struggled so much.

Come on . Its one start if it continues to blow up then cool you win. He wasn't all that expensive and he wasn't an ace. You're blowing smoke up everyones ass.

You have got to get rid of Romo. I dont understand the obsession

When the expensive starter that you decided to give $30 million to in a playoff push that will earn an average of $750K a start until he is a free agent gives up 5 runs. 🤣🤣🤣
