I don't care.

Well ain't that something....

Buffett/Munger hate/d anyone they had to compete with lol...both companies function (BRK.B/insurance floats and Apollo) quite similarly in competitive financial markets...in fact, Apollo is actually name-checked here:

"Lots of people want to invest insurance money these days. Nobody does it quite like Warren Buffett.

The seed capital Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway BRK.B -2.46%decrease; down pointing triangle uses to maintain its vast investing empire comes from insurance premiums, dollars that often sit unused for months or years before going to pay claims. That cash—or “float” in Buffettspeak—sounds a lot like the money big private-equity and private-credit firms are increasingly seeking to control. Apollo Global Management APO 6.26%increase; up pointing triangle Chief Executive Marc Rowan cited “elements of Berkshire Hathaway” when the firm merged with its insurance affiliate, Athene, four years ago..."

IMO, Sox should consider a retractable dome. Something like the ones in Seattle or Toronto. It make all the sense for fans and for the owners. The bad baseball weather days in Chicago seem to increase every year. It has gotten to the point where I will not even think about heading to a game where the forecast is questionable - i.e., hey, raining a bit now but there is a window to maybe get this one in. Then the cold and snow in late March early April, some uncomfortably hot weather or dodging summer rain storms. A retractable dome would be a bigger investment up front, but it would easily pay for itself.

Regarding the reports that Ishbia is hell bent on moving the White Sox from their historical home, I think he should fvk off, fvk all the way off back to Michigan.

Nothing he has done or reportedly done or proposed doing makes a stitch of sense to me. It's a high stakes fishing expedition. I recently read a post here suggestion a retractable roof stadium. Great idea but no, that kind of stadium would not fit on what is left of the "78" or the 47 acres across the canal that his PEI firm has a contingent deal to purchase. Of course he can sign another deal to add to the 47 acres or do whatever he wants.

And why is Jeffrey Bezos taking a 30% share in Liverpool FC?

Because it will likely be a good investment long-term.

(And they, Apollo, will also get a board seat on the management team.)

"The agreement, which mixes credit and equity, marks one of the largest private capital infusions into a baseball franchise in recent years. The transaction is expected to close in the coming days.

Apollo Sports Capital CEO Al Tylis will join the Yankee Global Enterprises board, with the board expanded by one seat to make room for him. Hal Steinbrenner will remain managing general partner and continue as the team’s MLB control person."

from Apollo PR

"Apollo Partner Robert Givone, said: “This is precisely the kind of bespoke capital solution Apollo Sports Capital was built to deliver, and we look forward to being a long-term partner to this storied franchise.”

Launched in 2025, Apollo Sports Capital is a permanent capital platform providing capital solutions across the global sports and live events ecosystem."

"That (previous 70s and 80s Steinbrenner world) environment has been replaced by global multimedia streams of revenue exponentially bigger than the games we loved. Cherish what you had it’s gone and isn’t coming back. Players are getting paid tens of millions in addition to endorsements, ownership is a global financial powerhouse, we’re not in Kansas anymore!"

"Look at much revenue they are making by streaming services….no more local games on your favorite app. And concessions, tickets and parking are certainly never going to be affordable again for regular families."

I would think by now that Yankees' fans would know we're all just 2-3 years away from having to pay ESPN/Disney for a leveraged package of ALL MLB broadcast.

The Yankees and Dodgers RSN's will have to cede some of their market control/monopoly powers to the rest of the teams in the league in order to level/flatten the playing field, at least somewhat.

But the days of free local broadcasts are surely coming to an end soon enough, except for FOX NBC ABC national broadcasts.

And not sure how this would be any different than the Big Ten or FIFA/World Cup selling media rights to private investors and giving hundreds of millions in proceeds to universities or various country football associations.

Only course, even then, the biggest brand teams or countries still want the lion's share of the benefits since their brands are essentially being leveraged to "benefit the many."
