I agree with this caveat. We don't know how much if any input/restrictions JR had in the situation at the deadline.

Getz needed to trade prospects like Bonemer. He didn't want to.

That was his call and he made that known well before the trade deadline.

Not disagreeing. But there may also have been other restrictions that we know nothing about and never will.

Martin needs to go on the IL with either a real injury or a made up one. Hitting Stewart in the head after throwing 5 feet over it on the pitch before is not acceptable. Whatever Martin's problem is let him figure it out in Charlotte.

Off on Monday, starting pitchers on Tuesday and Wednesday both went 7 innings, bullpen game on Friday. Like someone said earlier...so soon after the trade deadline and don't have a starter to use so stuck with bullpen game in game 1 of a crucial series. Terrible indeed.

He's going to solve a blister issue at Charlotte?

Martin is going to solve a blister issue in Charlotte?

Can Asian jersey manufacturers keep up with the overwhelming jersey demand the next two months?

stick

Thorpe had a great outing in Charlotte today. I'm not keep on needing to rely on a guy coming off TJ surgery for a pennant push, but give him a start or two and let Martin phantom IL for his "blister." I really hate the way McDougal was used since being called up. Kid sat for 11 days without seeing game action. Just seems like a total misuse of the kid. I was fine with the way the deadline turned out, but I do really fear Getz fumbled by not adding another SP to this group.

From tipping pitches to blisters…

It’s actually called “loser’s limp.”

Almost every ejection like this will end in a suspension.

Yea, I guess it just didn’t click for me because it was so obviously nothing intentional whatsoever.

In 99/100 situations like this - the pitcher was clearly throwing or there was some existing drama which lead to the dude getting plunked and benches clearing.

Here Davis was showing no command because of a blister. I’m still shocked they tossed him. Fucking bullshit.

May it work in our advantage by some odd way. 😬

Am I the only 1 that wants to see Urquidy at this point? I don’t expect anything great, or even good, but if I had to bet on 1 of our options to give the team 5 innings and 3 runs he’s probably in the top 5.

I know for a fact he could have gotten another SP without touching Bonemer or Carlson.

I think the thing that will save Martin is the suspension that they likely won't appeal. The suspension will be 5 games and that'll be his IL stint.

Make it a 10 day suspension.

I would take my chances with a Taylor Farm salad to be less harmful over the next Davis Martin start.

This man says violent diarrhea is a better choice than a Davis Martin start

The glaring question is the Manager, who leaves them in too long.

Let’s call it multiple glaring questions then. Sure, Venable’s decision making leaves a lot to be desired, but pitchers also gotta figure how to not be bad.

The Bullpen is a toasted cesspool. He has no good choices right now.
