why is it so hard for the pitching staff to avoid giving up the 2 out hit that often scores?

Well maybe they can win Wednesday.

11th time this season the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game.

What's front and center though is that four of those blown and lost games have come in the last 12 games played. At Boston, Cincinnati and back to back night against the Cubs.

This pitching staff right now is running on fumes.

We needed a homer in the final few innings as our small ball is not working.

They’re not getting any power of late from the outfield. Would guess the least amount in baseball by far since the ASB.

You know what would be fucking sweet? If Brazoban wasn't total ass

7.1 innings, 3 Ks, 3 walks, 5 ER, 1 HR.
This was a guy averaging 8.37 Ks/9 with the Mets. What the hell happened to him?

Problem is, he’s getting worse. Tonight was terrible.

Have you seen the Guardians the next two weeks?

They got swept by the Mets. They are a mediocre team at best

Threw a strike on the first pitch and decided he didn't want to do that anymore lol

Mets have a better record than the Sox in 2nd half )

They decided to pitch Bregman really weird. You get 1-2 on him with all breaking pitches and then you throw him another one in the zone? Just why? He was clearly looking for it on the game tying hit.

Him and PCA are killing the Sox in this series

Wow, Peters has such a weak arm.

Doyle should have been in for D in the 9 th.

Players love him

They may love him but they know he’s struggling mightily which isn’t a good thing for the young players to witness. Veterans like Bennentendi have to be shaking their heads.

Yep. Peters’ throw was laughable.

Feels like Bregman always hits against us.

Brezoben has been worse than Seranthony so far.

Anyway, the Sox lead the division by 4 games, which is more than they led it by the last time the season ended because they lost a series.

Next two games are the last time they play a team that currently has a better record than them.

Just keep winning division series and stay afloat otherwise, rosters expand soon for more arms to refresh the pen.

For the people who think a collapse is imminent, what evidence have you seen to show you this? This team is resilient as hell and has not had a long losing streak. We really just have to split our remaining games with our division foes and we are fine.

Pitching running out of gas and nothing in the pipeline that can be of help. I don’t think it would be a massive collapse, but the Sox are a .500 team since the ASB.

I don’t know if people are predicting a collapse but it’s obvious they don’t have enough pitching. That doesn’t mean they still can’t limp into the postseason somehow.

Exactly.

I think it's the fact that this team wasn't meant to win or compete for anything this year. They've had a lot of guys overperforming to get where they are now and whenever things start going wrong, people default to thinking that this is the start of the end. Because they weren't supposed to be doing this.

Truth is, these guys have shown that they are mentally tough and have the memory of a goldfish. However, the concerns about the pitching running out of steam are legit. The bullpen is taxed. The rotation is having trouble giving them 5 innings a game. It's hard to consistently win under those circumstances.
