I don't know what acuna's value is right now beyond pinch running. And O'Doyle can do that. Would rather have a guy with power off the bench.Acuna's value is that he is a legit MLB SS. Nobody else on the roster other than Colson is. They clearly don't want to play Meidroth there, and for good reason.

They do play him at shortstop — Meidroth has played shortstop 16 times this season, and he has graded out fine if not slightly above average. I've thought he looks good there as well

As I understand it, it has more to do with their lack of outfield depth. They are limited there which causes Antonocci to play LF. Since he has to play there pretty much everyday, Chase is best suited to play most days at 2B. If Vargas played 2B, it would give them more flexibility.

19 hours ago19 hr Eugenio Suarez OPS while helping Venezuela win the WBC this year -- 1.247. You think this guy might like big moments?
19 hours ago19 hr Suarez has actually been awful against lefties this year. He wasn't good against them last year either.

3 hours ago3 hr Also, our weakest hitters against LHP the last two months have been Murakami (68 wRC+) and Braden (55 wRC+). Both have been a bit unlucky with batted ball luck, but also aren’t rocking great ISO’s during stretch. Murakami had a 128 wRC+ against LHP through June, so there is zero reason to think he’s just a platoon guy at this point. Braden has struggled all year against LHP and while I don’t think he’s a platoon guy long term, I doubt he suddenly starts hitting them this year.If Suarez could actually hit LHP, you could put him at DH and Grichuk in RF and then sit Braden. I’m just not convinced he can hit LHP at this point in his career. Luis Robert, if made available, would be a much preferable fit because he still can hit LHP and would provide improved OF defense as well.
3 hours ago3 hr No on Suarez or Robert Jr. , or messing with the team's composition at this point, other than the pitching staff.

When things are going well, he seems to play better. Nothing more than a 4th OF/platoon guy though when rosters expand. I’d rather use the extra bench spot on that in September than the other 4 options: 3rd catcher (blah), Nishida, Perez, other DFA/waiver claim/etc not yet in org.

Switching Grichuk for him is obviously ridiculous. I'm still not sure why they traded for Doyle, but they had their reasons and I doubt they dump him this quickly to wishcast a Suarez return to form (such that it was).

3 hours ago3 hr I am fairly confident that Acuna played himself out of the outfield with how bad he was with cutoffs and being properly positioned while catching the ball.
2 hours ago2 hr I like Gino, just don’t think he’s a good fit. There’s probably guys who fit the roster better that were also put on waivers, and we just didn’t hear about it.

Should be mixed in less than that, especially when none of our infielders need a RHH platoon partner. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by Bob Sacamano

Catcher I could listen on. Everything else? Nah.
