  • Sox are amazing this year. Man it's hard to believe the sadness of the tank years has faded away. Sox have so much talent it's incredible led by my grinder faves: Antonacci, Meidroth and Banana Ball M

Man, Mune has been a real bum lately. Have they been pitching him differently or is he just in a bad slump?

Him and Colson are suffering from the same affliction.

I would hold off on offering Mune an extension. He looks lost

He's just not hitting pitches he used to hit.

Terrible slump…missing pitches right down the plate. The last month has basically been the worst case scenario for when he was acquired.

Seems like both the fans and the Sox over-reacted to Urquidy's last outing. Cost us this game (potentially) by baiting us into using openers.

No doubt, if he’s a sub .200 hitter next year, you don’t bring him back

Nah he will break out of it. Extend extend extend. From what everyone says he’s a streaky hitter

Can’t keep batting a guy 2nd when he’s around .150 over last month

Agree. He should be moved down in the lineup maybe to 6 th., until he pulls out of his slump. It would be less pressure on him as well. IMO.

Or maybe use an opener for him? Not sure

Pitchers will eventually realize they don't need to pitch carefully to him if this keeps going. And then he stops walking and turns into bad Joey Gallo. It's a real thin line between success and failure for guys with this type of profile.

Yes. Doesn't help if you can't score either.

No freaking way you give him 30 a year at this point. That’s what Freeman and Olson got after being stars for multiple years.

I'd rather have him start over Castillo going forward. I'm interested how many more starts Castillo gets this year with Thorpe and Sandlin as other potential options. I assume they want to see if they can get Castillo "right".

Is this where I say he’s the most replaceable of the “core” guys going forward.

No chance do they stop starting Castillo

Colson has been better than Mune lately.

Apparently Thorpe Is never getting the call back up as he’s pitching again for Charlotte tonight…

Venable just doesn't seem to like moving his lineup, he's stubborn like that. Like you said, it would take pressure off Mune at the very least.

Martin is back for Houston so Thorpe was always waiting for September.

Yeah I know. Wishful thinking. I get it with him being under contract next season. If he keeps pitching like an absolute gas can with better options available, I'm not sure how you could justify keeping him in the rotation in a playoff race. We gotta shoot for that bye.

Not saying to give 30 a year but I do think he’s more serviceable than a Gallo type and for as hot as he is was at the beginning of the year i feel like this is the extreme the other way for him. I’d hate to judge an extension based on performance next season with it most certainly going to be shortened or what happens if there is no season

Offense is all or nothing at times

Braden just can’t be hitting 2-0 high fastballs on the ground

They scored 28 runs in the 3 games prior to yesterday. A decent amount of that was some really good BABIP luck. Stuff like that averages out over time.
