11 hours ago11 hr I am going to be honest here, 2005 to 2006 is in the back of my head, where we rode our top dogs hard, and then they fell off the next year for the most part. If it were me, I am 100% looking for big innings next year, and I am NOT willing to count on the guys who we used hard in the last two months of the season as a whole. My gut tells me that guys like Newcomb, Hudson, Richards, Burke, Fedde, Schutlz, Taylor etc, are all at pretty high jumps YoY, and/or they were ridden really hard in the last two months of the season. I don't think they all will fall off, but if half had bad years next year, I wouldn't be surprised.
10 hours ago10 hr I wonder how deeply the Sox are scouting potential posting targets from NPB for next year. They got a gem in Murakami - perhaps they go to the well again if they feel a starting pitcher is being undervalued. Hiromi Itoh projects as a back-end starter, which is something the starting pitching-starved Sox could use without breaking the bank.

That pushes the rotation into a reasonable spot, and reduces the burden on the pen so they don't get exposed as much.

I kinda feel they are going to slow play him one way or another. maybe he even starts in Charlotte and continues to work on his mechanics in a lower pressure environment. Or they have him out of the pen for more of the year in Chicago.
9 hours ago9 hr Grant Taylor is and will be the Closer. It would be extra foolish to move him into the rotation. Castillo's future is uncertain because it became obvious that he lost velocity, movement and control of his fastball and did not have confidence to even attempt off-speed pitches. More concerning to me was that Castillo looked too nonchalant on the mound. He wasn't focused for whatever reason. A DFA would be a disaster financially for the team but might be the right move during Spring Training if he still sucks.

Sucks for Grant because he won’t get paid as well when he gets to FA down the line, but there’s no way in hell I’m dealing him until he’s knocking on the door of FA.
7 hours ago7 hr Why the hell are we having conversations about getting rid of grant taylor when he literally just had one of the best relief performances in postseason history. Edited 7 hours ago7 hr by AntMan26

Reading Bannister interviews, he has stressed that strikeouts cost money, so under Reinsdorf, they'll probably try to get the most out of soft contact, and bring along their 53 college IP, "stuff" guys as bullpen arms and openers.

But hopefully, Taylor starts dominates. It would be great if H Smith could do the same; but I haven't seen anything about him that suggests starter (under the definition of giving you at least 5 innings, but preferably 6+)

5 hours ago5 hr People say lots of things. Taylor is not a starter. Hagan Smith can’t be brought up because he can’t throw strikes in the minors.

But let’s assume that Taylor could bring in what Crochet brought. Three really good young prospects. Where are they going to play? Where?Catcher covered for years. The infield is overstocked to the point that Mune has to be moved to DH, Vargas to 1st, to find a place to play Roch (Colson either SS or 3rd). Billy Carlson is already completely blocked. Caleb B. has to move the outfield to get a place to play next year, but still where in the outfield?Where can Caleb B. play in the outfield, or for that matter Antonacci?Braden Montgomery is in RF and gonna be a ton better next year; he’s there for years. Sox have an all-Star centerfielder who I think is getting moved to LF to make way for the defense, athleticism, and right-hand power bat of Doyle. Peters is gonna be in left, providing the White Sox with, arguably, its best defensive outfield in their history.Antonacci, as much as I love him, has no starting position next year and is excellent depth. Where is Bonemer going to play?Don’t you guys understand? The Sox everyday talent has really, really improved since they traded Crochet. So if they traded Taylor for three prospects the equivalent of Chase, Teel, and B. Montgomery, they would be blocked for playing time like Antonacci, Bonemer, and Carlson. So, there’s absolutely no point to trading Taylor, as silly as the idea was to start with.

2 hours ago2 hr there is no way on gods green earth that we will be trading established players for prospects. Unless it's a very specific case. We are in win now mode. Next season is ALCS or bust.
2 hours ago2 hr Since Vargas played outfield in the dodgers system, wondering what people think about moving him to left field. I think he has the athleticism to potentially become an elite defensive outfielder. He is not Eloy 2.0

He is not Eloy 2.0I don't think that would ever happen, less than 1% chance, a lot of guys would have to bust out and get injured before they move Vargas to the OF@vilehoopster trading Taylor would allow another team to dream on him as a SP if the Sox aren't sold on him there. if the Sox see him as a legit starter then trading him doesn't make sense. my whole premise was based on if they don't think he will be able to handle the work loadthey are really pushing him right now beyond anything he's ever done as a pitcher, so I feel like they're gonna know in the next 30 days if his arm can handle it, I remember specifically it being reported this year that he was already not feeling great after working more than 1 inning. right now he's got that post season adrenaline bump, how does he fare next season in regular gamesthis is all speculation and discussing random s%*# bro, it's not that big of a deal re: "Don't you guys understand?" 😂
