Have seen nothing by the big time reporters that suggest Sox are going to be active in free agency

If they don't that in my opinion would be a slap in the face to the fan base but again remember JR still runs things and with labor uncertainty he's not about to take any real risks until he knows the new situation. At least that's what history says.

Maybe he'll surprise us?

Again, last time we saw this kind of set up with lockout looming over a looooooong expected lock out, teams largely sat the market out to wait for prices to be artificially forced down after the lockout changes.

Getz himself said they would be active and right out of the gate during his end of season presser.

If the rumor that Jerry doesn’t think there will even be a season are true, why would they be?

This, plus his previous history here. If he thinks they will force down the price of top free agents by crushing the top spenders and taking them out of the market, why wouldn't he wait it out?

The owners will bail. Just renew the previous deal.

I think there’s only like 3 that seem like slam dunks to reject

Shows you how much dependable high leverage relievers are worth these days.

Almost as much as the "average" non elite closer, if not moreso as a lefty.

Three NPB players Sato Itoh Taira now have less than one month to sign.

"Posted international players from the NPB have 45 days to negotiate a deal with an MLB team. If they don't reach an agreement, they return to their Japanese team. That is technically still the case, but players won't actually have 45 days this year. Instead, if they want to agree to a deal, they must complete it by 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 1, before the CBA expires. With their posting becoming official on Nov. 1, that effectively gives them 30 days to close a deal.

Under the current CBA, KBO players have 30 days to sign, and that time frame remains the same. Roh will have the typical 30-day window, which also ends at 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 1."

You're late to the party, Houston hired someone else a few days ago Randy Flores from the Cardinals.

Really expect the Sox to come up here.

The White Sox are on the rise, but they need veteran enhancements across the board, and that starts at the top of their rotation.

King would be the undisputed ace and most proven starting pitcher in Chicago's starting rotation, providing a needed lift to a unit that was 26th in ERA (4.60) and tied for 24th in WHIP (1.34). Moreover, their starting staff was last in innings pitched in the regular season (674 ⅔) and manager Will Venable only got 17 ⅔ innings from starting pitchers/openers across the team's seven postseason games.

How is that last note even possible?

On the bright side, right-hander Sean Burke (3.34 ERA and 4.2 wins above replacement across 27 starts and 32 appearances in 2026) looks like a future All-Star and left-hander Davis Martin (3.95 ERA in 28 starts, 29 appearances) has shown promise. Add King to their rotation, and the White Sox have their veteran leader

Lot of days off built into post season. Davis Martin also only pitched 1 inning of mop up ball

Davis Martin is ambidextrous?

As covered in that panel piece, the usual suspects are believed to be at the front of the line for Skubal: The Dodgers and Mets are the primary bidders, the Tigers are monitoring for a discount, the Yankees are thinking about it (and then trading from their pitching stockpile if they land Skubal), and the Angels, White Sox, and Padres are the sleepers with ownership changes behind the interest.

Obviously I/we all don't expect this to happen, but TIFWIW.

Have had that same projection up for a month or more

"So does Tuesday's news mean anything? Not really, considering how much the cap remains a nonstarter for the union.

Above all else, this latest proposal is a sign that the league is attempting to shift conversations about the cap from the theoretical to the actual. MLB's openness to delaying the cap is a recognition of the inevitable logistical conundrum that rolling out a new system would cause."

"The main question is whether the weaker position player class means that Sato can get to six years and/or $25 million in AAV; I have him just missing both, but wouldn't rule out him reaching both. This contract would mean the signing team sends $19.125 million in posting fees to Hanshin, making a full outplay of just over $134 million. My guess is the upper range for Sato is the full outlay of Kyle Schwarber's $150 million deal from last winter; Schwarber is a very proven player and a similar type, even though he hit the market for his age-33 season compared with Sato before his age-28 season."

Seem to be moving off 3B for Sato to RF LF 1B DH.

Taira because of his size and durability concerns is going to be fascinating...$72.5 million would be just under biggest Sox contract to Beni

With posting fee, they note total outlay of 85 million. He would interest me.
