So?

Oh yeah, 4-4.5 for me.

Cmon. It's over. Why are we still seeing these types of threads?

Did I anywhere state that it wasn't over? Jesus, lighten up you quadstack.

they'll have to be 6 back going into the 6 remaining games with the twins, then nothing but 6-0 or 5-1 against the Twins willl give them a chance

quadstack.

It is really not healthy to believe we will come back.

You are going to hurt yourself.

I'm not "believing", I'm simply asking how many games back it will take for you TO believe. I said 4-4.5, and obviously they are farther back than that. Am I believing yet? NO

At what point in what's left of the season? Four games back with 3 weeks left to play, maybe. Four games back with five games left to play, maybe not.

I wish I could believe, but they are on the road for TEN!!!! Which is usually not a good thing, plus you know the twins will atleast go 500 the rest of the way. Im reserved to a life of rooting against the cubs, go ASTROS!!!!! :fthecubs

I think if they are within 4 or 4.5 by next week i think they have a shot at catching the Twins. I think they will need to be 3 back at that point if they want to go for the Division Championship. Who knows...?...Maybe the Twins will fall out of it in the last 2 weeks and get overcome by a surging White Sox team, just like the Twins did to them. ;)

Sadly the twins would have to go on a huge losing streak for us to even have a prayer. Not only that but we would have to sweep them as well.

I'm not going to hold my breath. I'll continue to root for them but it's not looking good.

GO SOX! PROVE ME WRONG :headbang !

For sake of conversation, if they're 4 games out when they meet the Twins then MAYBE they have a shot, because they wouldn't have to sweep both series to tie them.

For sake of reality, they're done. Now. Sad but true.

Contreras vs Rogers tonight and a road trip to Anaheim after this series...

If they gain 5 games on the Twins and are 2 1/2 back heading back home... THEN I will believe.

Season = Over

If the Sox can win the rest of their games they still probably won't win it.. It's over imo.

For the amount of weeks left(ie 3 weeks left), we have to be within 2x that amount(to continue with my example, with 3 weeks left, we have to be within 6 games to have ANY shot at all...4 weeks, 8 games, 2 weeks, 4 games, etc)

And that is to have ANY shot.

Another thing I'm thinking...if they are within 7 games of the Twins by the time they start the last 6 games, they are not dead.

I do not think they will come back...not at all...but this team, the past 5 years(with the exception of 2000 and 2003), has played its best ball in September. Take that FWIW

Yeah and in 2000 and 2003 we were winning the division.

I think the Sox have to beat who they haven't beaten and that's the tigers...they play them 6 more times not to metion the royals 5. That's 11 games the sox have to capitalize on.

About 4 back and then we play the Twins is when I'll start believing.

About 2 back will do it for me

My answer is when we clinch the division. This team has not shown that it can finish the job and therefore will probably be mostly dismantled at the end of the year. Ozzie and KW have said as much.

If we can gain a game tonight then we will be in control of our own destiny to at least get a one game playoff. But probably 3-4 games out after the first Twins series for me to start putting stock into this team making the playoffs.

I'll also say that we're catching Texas at the right time, and, for us, Minny is catching Baltimore at the right time. Texas hasn't been very good lately (knock on wood), and Baltimore has won seven out of eight (IIRC, that's what they said on SC). Plus, Baltimore can flat out rake. Maybe they can send Johan Santana into a tailspin...

Over??? Nothing's over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now! Who's with me!?"

I will believe until we are mathematically eliminated :headbang
