I have no idea at all. Not the slightest clue, and I can't even make a guess...there are too many variables that are undecided...how much of an effect will an extreme hitters park have on Iguchi(and USCF is an extreme hitters park...how else can you explain us hitting 242 homers last year WITHOUT Maggs and Frank for half a year? Guys stepped up, but the balls also had to have carried easier as well), how much of an effect will MLB pitching have on him, how fast is he really, how good is he really....I have never seen him play, so I can't comment. I will just say that the Sox seem to really like him, so he better atleast produce some bang for the buck.

However, just let me say that I think it is funny some of those who are putting up .330 OBP's and say he is an upgrade over Harris. Color me pink, but isn't a .343 OBP(plus a .366ish OBP against RHP) at > better then a .330 OBP at $2.3 mill?

Not saying I don't like the move...just saying he may not be nearly the upgrade some thought.

I know you have doubts on Iguchi Gene, and you've got every right to. But looking at those last 2 seasons, gives me more hope than not, especially after he changed his batting stance, and starting hitting the ball over all parts of the park, and not just pulling the fastball. If he does that here, I think he'll do fine, but like I've said before he'll have to make adjustments with the 2 seam fastball.

.329 20 129 .409 .483 .892 and .322 19 110 .364 .485 .849 should not be expected at all, nor should they be predicted.

I'll just say I wouldn't throw .250 15 50 .310 .390 .700 out the window, and I'm not gonna throw .310 25 100 .380 .470 .850 out the window either. I have no idea what we can expect from this guy.

Hey, do you watch Japanese baseball at all? Many major league players, while some don't like to admit it, say its a higher level of baseball than AAA. Maybe its not quite up to the major's standards, but I'd say about 40% of its players could easily get starting jobs in the U.S. Most of them pitchers.

I have heard japanese baseball considered ''4a''.

Bryant Nelson had a season in Japan before he came back to play for Charlotte last season. I'd be interested to see the stats while he was playing over there.

.228/.256/.323 -- but I would say the same thing about a player headed over there... You hear DJ talk about the "Shooto" all the time, and over here the japanese playeres have to adjust to the difference between the speeds, and the 2 seam fastball.

Edit: He played on Iguchi's team.

well i may not agree with your 40% assessment, since we are both not in the professional level of judging talent and grading the league. i will give way to you knowledge of baseball in japan.

if it is 40% then why wasn't this guy snatch up and courted by other teams????

Why did he have to settle for less than what he was asking for?

why isn't there more influx of those players this offseason?

i know i may coming across strong, but i am not in the thinking of this guy putting up good numbers. i will cheer for him and hope for the best. i love the move and if it pays off great. if not, i am still in the thinking that we had nothing to loose and all to gain in getting this guy here.

fyi ............... many who posted and predicted good numbers will turn on him if he fails. i will still be in his corner saying that the risk in getting him was a worthwhile risk. i just want him to be given a chance without any major expectations.

Magazine's and various articles. They say the talent is above triple a and below major league talent for the most part. Which makes sense i think.

you may be right, i read as much as the next guy and i don't remember reading such a thing.

i will give way to you on this.
