October 8, 200520 yr its written in stone in my mind. el duce has to be our set up man. what a clutch performance. im supposed to be doing property homework for law school and im drinking wine and celebrating. I LOVE THE WHITE SOX!!!! seriously though, we should have el duce as our set up man for the rest of the season.
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Who is El Duce??? The guy who possibly killed Kurt Cobain.
October 8, 200520 yr I don't know. El Duque needs to be available to start against the Yankees if necessary... I don't know. We all saw his value in long relieve tonight as well. I think we keep things the way they are, except drop Marte and add Bmac for the longer series.
October 8, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Who is El Duce??? um...are you serious?
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) um...are you serious? He's being smart about a typo you made on the title; I fixed it for you.
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) He's being smart about a typo you made on the title; I fixed it for you. He's called him "el duce" about 50 times.
October 8, 200520 yr i liked him from the beginnin and wanted him up instead of bmac, and im not sayin that because he did good, he always was a big game pitcher and always will be
October 8, 200520 yr I have bashed El Duque all season, but he ate his wheaties and pitched his ass of tonight. That performance alone was worth the contract the Sox gave him.

That performance alone was worth the contract the Sox gave him. hell yeah, any other pitcher would've walked damon or graffanino, he was locating beautifully and threw 10 good pitches in a row...he was wonderful
October 8, 200520 yr Yeah he was worth his contract just with his performance today... that being said im comfortable with Cotts, politte, Hermy, El Duque all as the setup guy. But if bases loaded and no outs... we know who to call . Also I think its pretty clear El Duque is going to keep his spot but what about Marte?
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Also I think its pretty clear El Duque is going to keep his spot but what about Marte? Marte better be gone, I don't want Ozzie to have the option of pitching him again this year.
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Marte better be gone, I don't want Ozzie to have the option of pitching him again this year. It might actually come down to who the Sox play. Anaheim, Los Angeles Orange County Angels Anderson, Finley and Erstad only tough lefties...but Politte might be able to get them out better than Marte. Yankmees Giambiotch, Tino, Posada(Switch) and Matsui is a little taller order as far as lefties go. I really do not want to see Marte at all on the roster but leaving him off might not be an option. Ozzie has a tough call to make.

October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) why don't we just drop viscaino And keep Marte on the roster? No gracias.
October 8, 200520 yr Everyone on the sox get lefties out better than marte. It is actually a rather easy decision to make if you think about it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Marte will be sent packing for the next series and McCarthy will get his spot. Afterall, what good is a lefty that can't get lefties out? Hell, Marte can't get anyone out. He either throws a 2-strike meatball and gives up a hit or just walks the guy. October 8, 200520 yr El Duce = Benito Mussolini El Duque = God Let's not confuse fascists with God, ok? Edited October 8, 200520 yr by Cerbaho-WG
October 8, 200520 yr I feel really bad for Marte, he is a good pitcher but he just hasn't got it done. I am really glad Duque pulled him out of that HUGE jam. But yes, he needs to go.
October 8, 200520 yr El Duque has the mental disposition to be a closer. In fact i wouldn't be opposed to it.
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) El Duque has the mental disposition to be a closer. In fact i wouldn't be opposed to it. But not the WHIP
October 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) But not the WHIP yeah but i think that changes in the postseason. He is probably one of the best postseason pitchers in baseball history. He was in Yankee history that's for sure.
