Then get me 4 too while you're at it.  :P

I can see the conversation now:

But, sweetheart, you have to buy three authentic jerseys and 2006 season tickets to get World Series tickets...

3 computers and a phone? It's people like you...

It hasn't worked for me yet :bang Actually I am going to try to put together a bunch of off beat Ticketmaster numbers to try also. Forget trying Chicago, I am going to assemble some of the other numbers.

Champaign always works for concert tickets.

Thx for the info.

Are there states further away that might be selling them? I ask because with the Cardinals being in the mix, you will have their fans also hitting up the Midwest locations for tickets to games at the Cell.

Some events are region restricted, only certian outlets can sell the tickets. It is supposed to prevent scalping as what would a ticketmaster outlet in San Diego theoretically need with White Sox world series tickets? I know there are exceptions, but ticketbastard must think it works.

I have no idea which specific outlets will be selling. I put the closest ajoining states because if there are restrictions, I can't see any of these outlets being left out in the cold. Missouri might be selling tickets also, I would call their outlets and ask them on Tuesday morning if they will be selling them or not.

No, f*** that. I can be pissed off if I want to. When the people who have been supporting the team and going to the games all year can't go to the f***ing playoff games it sucks. And don't tell me otherwise. Sorry if I had the "audacity" to think I might be able to actually not have to pay a premium for tickets I thought I in a way "deserved." It boggles my mind that someone has the "audacity" to say that I had the "audacity" to think I had a chance of getting tickets.

You can be pissed off if you don't get any but you can't tell me you actually have a good shot at getting tix....I'll be trying but if I don't get any, I'm not going to be bitter towards Ticketmaster or send emails to Brooks Boyer complaining about it since the demand will outweigh the supply....And I used audacity because some posters last week felt they were entitled to ALCS tix just because they're fans and used a computer :banghead

Hope those that score tix get to use them! :gosoxretro:

Supposedly, NONE of those outlets are supposed to sell. Other than the main phone line and the central online sales, none of the satellite sites are supposed to sell. But, we know some did because that's how at least one person here got tix for the ALCS.

Bottom line, try anything and everything!

You might think of setting up a buy it now auction on EBay to sell the right to buy the tickets to a Cardinals fan.  That might make you the cash needed to buy yourself world series tickets.  That was why I tried for them, but I didn't win.

really? i just looked on ebay and it seemed like no one else was doing that.

i think i'm just going to wait and see what i get, then see what happens from there.

IIRC there is a strict rule in the Missouri area about scalping and the way people try to get around that is by selling some crappy baseball card and including 4 free tickets to the world series to see the Cardinals. So people will pay like 1200 bucks for a freaking Willie Harris card or whatever (if you had like 4 tix).

DOn't know if that really makes it legal, but its what I remember seeing be done a few years back.

i believe that's what they do to get out of the scalping law that it can't go over like triple the face value or something along those lines.

Either way, i'm going to have to see how this weekend plays out, because these tickets may be my only chance to see.............[our team].......in the..........[round past the ALCS]

no jinxes.

Yep. The old "Blind Pig," theme and variations. :bang

To get around various liquor sales laws, proprietors would charge a cover charge to see some 'amazing' sight in the tavern, like a blind pig or something equally stupid. Then they'd just happen to serve 'free' booze to the folks who seem unusually interested in seeing some crap in the back room.

Very creative.

They used to have those restrictions on E-bay too. If the state you list as your location has scalping rules, not only could you not sell the tickets for over face value, but it wouldn't let you bid on tickets over face value either (only if you were in the state of the event, which I would be). Only if the event were in a state that neither the seller or buyer was in were the restrictions removed. I remember this vividly because I had to work a deal with a seller off of E-bay in order to buy Rolling Stones tickets.

The only way you were able to get around it was to include something else in the auction "of significant value," which was usually something like room reservations, a game program, or T-shirts.
