Jim Thome, DH, White Sox

 

 

Last season, Thome endured far and away the worst season of his career, a fact at least partly attributable to his seriously injured elbow. Thome is lumbering and big-bodied, so he's not the kind of player who tends to age well. Still, he's ripe for a substantial rebound in 2006. His power stroke will play quite well in U.S. Cellular, and since he's in the AL there's no need to inflict his glovework upon unsuspecting observers.

 

The White Sox's offense is probably in for a regression in 2006, but Thome, if he's able to draw walks and clout homers in the manner of his old self, will stem the decline. Chicago needs that to happen if they're to fend off the fast-rising Indians.

This just proves that Dayne either doesnt research worth a damn, or is making things up. Our offense was great in the playoffs. It was dismal for most of the year. Our pitching and our defense is why we won 99 games in the regular season. August was brtual, and in September we played experiment with the 3 hole.

 

Thome vs Everett come on Dayne even you can figure this out.

The only thing I can figure is that our buddy Dayn Perry thinks that Podsednik (Dayn HATES Podsednik) and Dye will regress, while Anderson will struggle as a rookie, and Thome may not stay healthy.

 

On paper, our offense is better. A healthy Thome is a MASSIVE upgrade over Everett and I think that Anderson will be able to put up 2005 Rowand numbers. Mackowiak off the bench will help as well.

Perry's the worst baseball expert I've seen. I don't know why people would really care what he says.

As long as Anderson is strong mentally (which I think he is, he's a goofball by all accounts) he will make us forget about Rowand in a hurry. People loved Rowand because he played so hard and was a good guy and team guy, and I don't mean to diminish him here... but seem to forget something; he wasn't all that good. Crash has average speed, other than 2004 wasn't all that great at the plate, and many of his really good catches are plays Anderson could make in his sleep with his better angles and general speed.

 

This whole offense is based on Thome though IMO. If he stays healthy, we will be top 3 to 5 in the AL. If not, we will be around last year, although a bit better IMO.

We we're 11 in the al in runs scored last year. Even the Tampa freaking Devil Rays scored more runs than us. How the hell can you regress from that? Some of these writers make me wanna f***in barf.
