That's the point I made about adjusting to the umpire thought. That pitch was actually closer to being a strike than the one he got called out on.

 

There are very very few major league hitters who are gonna do different than Mackowiak did in that situation, take a bad pitch for a ball, no I mean strike I guess. If you agree the umpire called it wrong, then how can you blame the hitter, it is nigh impossible to adjust to Bucknor's strike zone.

Yes I agree he can't get a ground ball every time. It would have been nice to get one instead of that long fly ball on the 3-2 pitch to Glaus though.
