How come you use the team name for the Yankees and Sox, but city (or state ) name for Detroit, Boston and Minnesota?

Man.. that seems fairly obvious to me... but then I'm new here.

My guess, they only have one team in the city.

But since he was talking about the AL, it doesn't matter

Funny you should mention that. As I was typing, I got to "New York" -- Yankees just sounded more accepted -- and ominous. As does White Sox. White Sox is very ominous. Ominous, indeed. Be afraid, American League. Be afraid of our mighty mightiness.
