Kerry Wood strains tricep

Featured Replies

General manager Jim Hendry revealed, minutes later, that Wood has a strain near his elbow. The injury was thought to have occurred the last time Wood threw in a game, March 11. Hendry said Wood was striding too far on the mound at Ho Ho Kam Park, trying to avoid a hole in the pitching surface, and that put the additional strain on the arm.

cough*mechanics*cough

Don't they have a freakin' grounds crew???

"There's a big ol' hole in the pitchin' surface, Skip."

"....where's the grounds crew?.....ahhhhh, just stride over it, what's the worst that can happen?"

Unbelievable.

i dont think that even putting wood in the bullpen will keep him from getting hurt..

this is just... wow. i'm shocked.

why is this stuff still news?

The sun rises and sets again.

Apparently Prior and Wood are both starting the season on the DL.

MMM baseball: fresh cut grass, peanuts, ice cold miller light, polish with onions, Wood and Prior on the DL. Love it.

In extended spring training and on the DL, some things in life never change, thank God.

LOL thats good stuff, if theres one thing I enjoy bout the cubs its laughing at them.

A suggestion to the Mods. Can we pin this to the top and title it "As the World Turns: Prior/Wood injuries 2007". That way we do not have to start a new post each time one of these two "pitchers" gets injured. I suspect we may save memory on the server as well since it would prevent separate posts for the next seven times they get injured and have to throw simulated games or snap a towel.

I wouldn't be surprised if he retired soon.

the only thing we haven't seen with this guy is having his arm actually fall off while he is on the mound. when it happens i hope that game's on wgn.

I wish Kerry Wood the best, but it might be time for him to think about hanging them up.

Agreed, I never hated the guy despite him being on the Cubs. Now Prior...

If he wasn't a Cub I'd feel bad for him. Have any two pitchers from the same team fallen off the face of the planet like Wood and Prior have? I remember back in 2003. I was scared to death of the prospects of a 1-2-3 rotation combo of Wood/Prior/Zambrano.

wood could be finished and will prior ever be willing to pitch through any kind of pain or discomfort?

He's a pansie. I hope he never makes it back into the bigs.
