March 16, 200719 yr General manager Jim Hendry revealed, minutes later, that Wood has a strain near his elbow. The injury was thought to have occurred the last time Wood threw in a game, March 11. Hendry said Wood was striding too far on the mound at Ho Ho Kam Park, trying to avoid a hole in the pitching surface, and that put the additional strain on the arm. cough*mechanics*cough
March 16, 200719 yr Don't they have a freakin' grounds crew??? "There's a big ol' hole in the pitchin' surface, Skip." "....where's the grounds crew?.....ahhhhh, just stride over it, what's the worst that can happen?" Unbelievable.
March 16, 200719 yr i dont think that even putting wood in the bullpen will keep him from getting hurt..
March 20, 200719 yr Author QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 08:37 AM) Apparently Prior and Wood are both starting the season on the DL. Ah...baseball season never truly begins for me until I read that sentance.
March 20, 200719 yr QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) Ah...baseball season never truly begins for me until I read that sentance. MMM baseball: fresh cut grass, peanuts, ice cold miller light, polish with onions, Wood and Prior on the DL. Love it.
March 20, 200719 yr QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Apparently Prior and Wood are both starting the season on the DL. In extended spring training and on the DL, some things in life never change, thank God.
March 20, 200719 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) Kerry Wood's celebrity Hot Tub LOL thats good stuff, if theres one thing I enjoy bout the cubs its laughing at them.
March 26, 200719 yr http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines no need for a new thread on this, but it's official.
March 26, 200719 yr A suggestion to the Mods. Can we pin this to the top and title it "As the World Turns: Prior/Wood injuries 2007". That way we do not have to start a new post each time one of these two "pitchers" gets injured. I suspect we may save memory on the server as well since it would prevent separate posts for the next seven times they get injured and have to throw simulated games or snap a towel.
March 27, 200719 yr this article is hilarious. reads like an Onion article, but it's all true http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cu...T-cub26.article
March 27, 200719 yr the only thing we haven't seen with this guy is having his arm actually fall off while he is on the mound. when it happens i hope that game's on wgn.
March 29, 200719 yr I wish Kerry Wood the best, but it might be time for him to think about hanging them up.
March 29, 200719 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:11 PM) I wish Kerry Wood the best, but it might be time for him to think about hanging them up. Agreed, I never hated the guy despite him being on the Cubs. Now Prior...
March 29, 200719 yr If he wasn't a Cub I'd feel bad for him. Have any two pitchers from the same team fallen off the face of the planet like Wood and Prior have? I remember back in 2003. I was scared to death of the prospects of a 1-2-3 rotation combo of Wood/Prior/Zambrano.
March 29, 200719 yr QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Agreed, I never hated the guy despite him being on the Cubs. Now Prior... wood could be finished and will prior ever be willing to pitch through any kind of pain or discomfort?
March 29, 200719 yr QUOTE(lord chas @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) wood could be finished and will prior ever be willing to pitch through any kind of pain or discomfort? He's a pansie. I hope he never makes it back into the bigs.
