Moose is having an awful stretch, but can someone explain to me why he should be pulled from the rotation? Do you mean for good? Is his velocity and all that down or something?

He has no velocity at all right now. If you are the Yankees you can't afford to keep throwing him out there when you are in the playoff hunt.

Melky also prevented more than 1 run from being scored on that drive to dead center with the bases juiced.

Mike Sweeney's a dick

I work with a die hard Yanks fan, and he was watching the game at his desk tonight. He said Moose wasn't hitting 86....

You work?

:P

Poor Mike Mussina. I hate him but I love him. I hope he gets it together.

I was at that game in Minnesota tonight, being that I went with my friend who's a Twins fan, I was basically neutral for the game. I wish I would've seen a perfect game/no hitter, but I wasn't terribly sad after seeing all the look of anger and dispair from all the Twins fans.

I don't know if I was the only one to catch it, but after the no no was broken up one of the commentators said "I never liked him anyway".

Ian Kennedy called up to take Mussina's spot in the rotation and he goes 7 innings giving up 1 ER and picking up a W. That is two pitchers from last years draft already called up and contributing for the Yankees. Must be nice.

The Yankees are setting themselves up for another dominant string of seasons. They have Kennedy, Wang and Joba to anchor the rotation and Cano, Melky and (eventually) Tabata who will all be dirt cheap for the next few seasons. All Cashman has to do is pay up for the star players who hit free agency, starting with A-Rod this winter.

We're lucky if ANY of our draft picks contribute, yet alone one year after being drafted. And these selections from the Yankees weren't done within the Top 10, either. I guess when scouting works and management doesn't fears the menacing wrath of major league baseball and their slot recommendations, talent can be found.

I'm already setting the bar of whomever is our first round draft selection for next season, they'll be up here contributing (ie, immediate results) by 2010. There should be no excuse from anyone to the contrary. I expect success, and quite frankly, we're going to desperately need it within the upcoming seasons.

I tend to agree, unless we take a HS kid. In that case I think you have to give a little more time for development.

How many players in the modern era have experienced a dip in OPS by almost 300 points from one year to the next without suffering a serious injury? I wonder if there are any Cleveland fans who act like some Sox fans thinking they should get rid of their DH who doesn't play in all 162 games a year.

My wife said she heard the same thing. I did not notice but I was only half paying attention.

Was Baker part of the Nomar deal? If not , who did the cub give up to Minnesota?

They were referring to Mike Sweeney, notorious Twins killer, not Baker.

That's what I meant.

Kevin Slowey had a 1.89 ERA this year in AAA. That's under 2.

That's wild.

05-06 Sox vs 06-07 Tigers? Well, at least we won the WS :P

that sounds like something the Twins announcers would say, I'm assuming that's who you're talking about.

Baker was a 2nd round draft pick

The Twins got a minor league Justin jones from the Cubs in that Nomar mess of a trade

Congrats to the Tribe and Good Luck.

Some other craziness/newsworthiness...

Andruw Jones and Mike Cameron are B's while Rowand and Hunter are A's....

Furcal is the top B, meaning he'd likely need a better than '06 season, though it's crazy how elias defines this, to reach type A status

Recall that the Twins offered Johan $93 mil to stay. A far cry from fa money, but a lot for the Twins. Supposedly, Johan countered with $126 mil. Which is a lot, but a lot less than he'd make as a fa, and close enough to $93 mil to make me worried...

No word on the years.

from what I undestand, the Twins offered 5/93

You're right, I just meant on the counteroffer. I was unclear there, my bad.

ah

Well, from what I understand, Santana countered with 7/125. He wants a Barry Zito type contract. So that basically means start lining up your best trade offer because there is no way the Twins are going to sign that
